I think we'd be happy to, it's Lingard himself who apparently doesn't want to sign permanently.
-
Are we collecting people named Bruno or what?
-
If he makes a tackle, yes. "You don't f*ck with our BRUNO-NO-NO-NO You don't f*ck with our BRUNOOO!"
-
Also, given that we are going a little Brazilian-crazy at the moment, and that Barbosa was quite heavily linked earlier on, I'd be very happy to take a punt on Gabigol. No-one else seems to be in the running, and if Zapata is a non-goer, why not take the chance. Big Jow, Bruno-no-no-no, and Gabigol would be fantastically insane.
-
It's so weird to say this but - it's lucky we have Joelinton as a fellow Brazilian, who knows the Premier League and our style of play, to be the guy to ease world-class Bruno Guimares into the Newcastle United midfield. Who would've thought this just six months ago?
-
Won't someone think of the share prices, ffs!
-
None of these rumours will come to pass, so why not imagine a Sheikh in Riyadh saying to Amanda - "If you had to sign ONE striker for a hundred million English pounds, who would you like?" https://topbinstalk.com/2021/11/22/scouting-victor-osimhen/
-
Even then it'd still be unbelievable.

Victor Osimhen anyone? Seems to be the rumour du jour.

Ashley was always in the habit of buying outright in one lump sum. Granted that players we bought under him were usually under 10 mil. I wonder if it’s accurate that installments help us out in keeping within FFP. In which case, staging payments is critical to building an expensive side over the next few windows whilst keeping to FFP requirements.
-
How long until the thread title changes to “First bid of 12 million euros described as derisory by Lever”?
-
If it’s true that Martial went to Sevilla without a loan fee, and that Donny VdB is heading to Palace on the same terms, we should tell Manu to get stuffed. 14 mil for a loan, we might as well offer to pay Ousmane Dembele’s outrageous wages for a six month loan.

Nunez would be some statement- he’s probably the third hottest striking prospect on the continent, behind Vlahovic and Schick. He won’t be short of suitors. Zapata fits the profile of what we’ve been able to attain this window - older (costs less, less competition from top clubs, more amenable to move for a final payday), but still fit, and still good. Same as Trippier and Wood. And if they help us avoid the drop this season, they can be subs or cover after we revamp the squad in the summer with actual hot young prospects. Zapata is now my striker version of Ottmar Hitzfeld for this window
-
Precisely that. Lest we forget, Joe Willock’s purple patch of goalscoring form last season practically saw us safe. We need assurance of some goals in our run-in this round. I really hope we’re looking at Zapata and Nunez and hustling some deals for them on the quiet.
-
A forward line of Saint Max, Wilson/Zapata, Lingard, with Alli just behind would be insane. We won’t get them all, and priority should be given to a goal-scoring CF. Wood isn’t really a safe bet, IMHO, although if Lingard and/or Alli comes, he could feed them with knock downs.
-
Bremer? Oddly enough, seemingly not been linked with us this window, despite him being good, a centre back, Brazilian, and built like a brick shithouse. He’s apparently on his way to Inter at the end of the season.
-
Yeah, we really need someone else up front. A CB, Guimares and a good, pacey striker would be a great spine to get us those 25 points from the next 17 matches. Then a right-sided forward would be a bonus. Five days to wrap it alll up. Burn, Bruno and Zapata. Get ‘em in,
-
Great if we got him and he scores against Everton again, twice in two months and for two clubs.
-
Just waiting for the end of the window when Darwin Nunez, Bruno Guimares, Mitchel Bakker, Sven Botman, Diego Carlos, Jesse Lingard, Delle Alli and Dusan Zapata all walk in through the door, man. Scenes. Or not.
-
Eddie Howe's influence is so pervasive that even our Spanish forummers are from Bournemouth
-
Would Alli and Lingard be competing for the same position though? Don't think it would be Alli AND Lingard? Both attacking mids, just that one is more technical and the other more "direct".
-
Of course the pressure now is that instead of a match in a week's time, we have the transfer window slamming shut in a week's time.
-
Articles will be written come end of the season, analysing the perfect storm of circumstances that resulted in our relegation. A late takeover that botched any overhaul, the delay in sacking Bruce, the Emery business, Howe getting Covid for his first match in charge, a January window spent at the foot of the table meaning that targets were reluctant, a possible pay disparity that led to some current players being disgruntled (speculation on my part). We’re circling the drain here but it seems like we’ve had absolutely rotten luck throughout.
-
No one will come if we’re doomed like this. A vicious circle.
