The important thing is to be making progress, because then at end of season we can say, we're getting there. Assuming we hold onto him (it's ridiculous that these days there's panic over a player we've JUST SIGNED) I imagine he'll be happy to be part of an improving project, this is the beginnings, the squad is thin, we've been playing out of our skins, and next season with a further strengthened squad we should start being more than just underdogs raiding into the european places and expecting to be up there. If we didn't and just did a sunderland and sat in the area then dropped off could understand him being p*ssed off, he did after all leave a club that was in the champions league for us. Those quotes do not indicate he is in anyway p*ssed off, and eveyrthing he's ever said about us seems to indicate he is a top bloke who has fallen for the club, though I do think some kind of hypnotism must have been involved bringing him here Himself, he had a bad game against chelsea, but think he's basically deputising for Tiote, he was playign deeper than Guthrie. I think Guthrie has been very good, I do think that people should consider that when Tiote is doing the defensive role Cabaye should pick up and be much stronger going forward, but do wonder if we should be playign a 3 man midfield while need to protect a new backline.

don't mind him aiming high at all, as long as no drama when we don't make europe
-
Definately needs to be stuck out on wing once Best is fit again. Hasn't done enough to nail down that spot, done enough to be in the squad still.
-
Feels a bit intrusive really What really got me was thinking he should have seen how much everyone thought of him :'(
-
I thought he'd provide goals when we signed him and reckoned he was a good signing, but presumed a) that he would get injured and b) he was mainly just a good poacher He has not got injured, and has been far better than just getting goals in the box has contributed very well

My mates mocked me when I put him in my fantasy footy team. They mock no more.
-
The price was low because he was nearly out of contract and wanted to go, Krul has longer on his contract iirc, though dunno really if he wants to go. He has a long time in his career to go, and Spurs isn't a massive step up, I'd hope he'd wait and see how far he can go with this club.

well that makes sense now :|

I watched a bit, amazing!

What game were you watching?

Just looked at the table and saw us 6th, and felt a twinge of disappointment If someone told me by now I'd be disappointed at 6th at start of season I would have slapped them...or probably just laughed my head off

http://www.zonalmarking.net/2011/12/03/newcastle-0-3-chelsea-tactics-mata-sturridge/ Pretty accurate summary of the tactics of the match imo. Noting Chelsea defending deeper than they have been making them better...had to do it for our match didn't they?
-
Feel so sorry for him, no-one will forget what he's done for the team this season up till now
-
I disagree with playing 5 at the back, I think it invites pressure onto us really by making us weaker further upfield.
-
He plays left back too.
-
Eh ? he fkn loves to talk about transfer targets he wants too though, unsettle who he can, already ths week he has been on about Drogba, Anelka and Cahill I just remember his hunt for strikers a bit ago. Hopefully won't unsettle Krul, more worried about ashley sensing profit

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6202/AVB.jpg He's clearly auditioning for Star Wars
-
well thing is Redknapp's policy is always to talk about a hundred people he'd like to bring in then not bring in any of them, so I'm not too worried.
-
Can kinda see that, Man City seen as boring corporate, get a footballer whose a bit eccentric and such. But I dunno seems a little churlish to dig too deep, the off the pitch stuff one can ignore, he's fun on the pitch too.
-
he's been due a penalty save as well. Seemed to have tidied up his distribution as well (not that it did much good) but didn't spot him hoofing it out of play needlessly
-
Incidentally, when Saylor left pitch who got the captain's armband? Wondering whose third in line (assume Shola)
-
Did fine but tended towards playing more centrally and as such left Raylor exposed. Still played alright, with a solid left back is an option there based on that imo
