Newcastle United promoted back to the Premier League
Mole_Toonfan replied to Figures 1-0 Football's topic in Football
I have never been nervous personally, i just think people make a bigger deal out of this than there needs to be most of the time. Understandable considering the emotional ties to the club and constant disappointment but there's a reason why practically everyone else outside of Newcastle fans never really expected us to not get promoted. I have barely looked at the table more than 2 or 3 times all season long, it's honestly while not as easy as it should be ever really been in danger of not getting promotion. -

10 point difference even with a game in hand means this is pretty much done IMO, although i felt the same after we beat Brighton and Huddersfield. -
Considering this team i have to concur. It looks fucking trash

Wijnaldum cost similar to that, spending money isn't exactly out of the norm since TV money came in. Problem is we usually spend it on the basis because of selling a player or we just waste what amounts Ashley does allow on players we don't need thus still having a s*** squad. I wouldn't be surprised if we signed a couple of players for big money and completely ignore the rest of the squad because Ashley doesn't consider it necessary and wonder why we are struggling in January tbh.
-
Sigurdsson wouldn't actually surprise me, he's one of those players who is too good for the likes of Swansea but not good enough for those above say Everton. Exactly the type of player i could see Rafa getting to sign for us assuming Ashley doesn't fuck him about.
-
I'd argue when he's actually healthy he is the right for Rafa tbh, but i suppose that's the point as he never is.
-
Depends what Perez means by a 'Galactico' tbh, because from a traditional sense Aubameyang as great as he is probably doesn't fit the bill in terms of marketing and all that 'superstar' lark.

New manager. We've looked immense, probably the best we've looked since 2005. 2005 you say? as in before more crushing disappointment at a major tournament?

It's pretty obvious that Wenger has complete power at Arsenal and will only leave when he wants to.
-
What he's done for the club is irrelevant when he's clearly been past his sell by date for at least 3 years, i'm sure most Arsenal fans respect what he's done for them ( ones i know do anyway) but it's time for everyone to move on. Will never understand this attitude that he's a legend for past achievements so he's exempt from criticism in the present where he's clearly not doing his job properly.
-
He's an excellent keeper and apparently a top man and great in the dressing room - he's also a leader too who never shuts up! He's a good, not great keeper and a tosspiece of a bloke. Certainly not a leader or great in the dressing room for England, either. Aye

On the whole refereeing decisions of penalties and that stuff does it even matter? being 4-0 up and losing is a disgrace and PSG should be embarrassed.
-
Ashley Williams is fair enough but the other two are mid table to relegation cloggers. Will never understand the fascination for Shawcross on here, he's a bang average journeyman who has never left Stoke for a reason. We'll never progress beyond 10th ( that's if we get lucky) and more likely spend the entire time between 13th and 17th signing players like that. Luckily Rafa knows better.

Ozil too or is he injured? The line from Arsenal is "ill".

Happy he's started to play Atsu and Ritchie together more consistently. -
You do realise they could very easily go down right and shown nothing to suggest he could stop the slide? those managers would be likely be sacked too in the same situation, not everything is about money and everything being shit. Learn to check your emotions at the door and realise it's not just about money and them sacking him because they are not living up to winning the league, they could very easily get relegated. ( they are 1 point in front of Hull ) You don't just ignore that because you won the league the year before, that's moronic.
-
I should say though that if they hire Pardew, then everything i have said goes out the window. Because he's not going to keep them up in the slightest.
-
I'm not sure you can call it a fluke From the sense of his career it kind of was, as i said before he has a history of being incapable of turning things around when things go to shit and going on hot runs when things run well. I don't blame them for not thinking he couldn't turn around and risking relegation considering that, i don't care who you are in the sport but you should do all you can to avoid going down. You can't let sentiment get in the way of the good of the club long term, it's sad but if they were to ignore it and go down they might not ever get back.
-
Because he won the league last year? i don't understand this mindset, a football club should do everything it can to stop relegation no matter who it is. There's a very big possibility they could go down and the manager doesn't look like he can turn it around then a change should be made. If they were safe in mid table i'd agree, but you shouldn't just see the season out when relegation is a possibility just because you won the league the year before.

Scratch this if they hire Pardew
