I'd say it was pretty predictable tbh, they only started slow because of vast turnover of players so they had zero chemistry and some injuries. They are still by far the best team in the league. Only a fool would have ruled them out.

I think he has declined a lot. Have you seen him for Roma? He played like he's afraid to over-stretch. Much like Duff and Owen were for us. Still, can't say I'd be unhappy if we signed him on loan. He's an experienced goal scorer after all. Hopefully, he'll take the chance to restart his career here. No idea what Roma were playing at, but I'm not too concerned about that period. Italian league is so different, as it is much more defensive and there isn't the kind of space he would have been used to. Doesn't seem they gave him much game time to adjust either. I like that he went back to CSKA and picked up right where he left off, and continued banging them in, in the champion's league, and did so consistently against top prem teams. Aye most strikers who rely on space will struggle in Italy due to how they defend, he'll see a lot more of it here so I'm not concerned about that.

Tell that to the two centre mids and the left winger we've signed, as well as the potential striker we are probably going to sign. Not sure why you are so confident mind.

In fairness most of the stick has come from those who have admitted to never seeing him play. Only natural to be apprehensive about players you haven't seen.

I assume the front 3 are playing? If so i think Barca will win pretty easily ( as much as you can against Atletico anyway) Ever since those 3 got together Atletico have really struggled against Barca as they stretch their compact defence around which makes them uncomfortable. Not really a slate on Atletico mind as they do that to everyone seemingly.

Not sure how you be so confident, he's done f*** all since he left us. He was good last year when he got game time, in 2nd half of the year he scored more than Costa. Just like with Ba before him you only do so much if you are given scraps here and there.

Nah Saivet wasn't but Doumbia has played and scored in the CL for years against some pretty massive teams too. Not really the same thing.

Yeah, been linked with him a number of times in the past. His goal scoring record is top notch. Would be a really nice pickup. Didn't quite click in Italy with Roma, which is why he's available. Has been on loan back at CSKA though and been scoring again there, so surprised he's available now. Maybe the loan was just until January. Would be a pretty exciting signing. Only just turned 28 in December so still a good age. Can play on either wing too. Lots of pace and athleticism.

Because unless he's playing every week, on TV, and is one of the best players on the pitch, most people wouldn't remember him. I watch the premiership every week, but I couldn't give a rating to West Ham's left back (for example) for this season. Maybe some people watch every team every week, but meh. No one is going to give a run down of his life story man Just that it's possible seeing as he's playing in La Liga some will have seen him and know what he's capable of to a certain extent. I don't really need to say anything because the Balague tweet already summed it up but it's hardly like he's been playing in Mexico.
