Newcastle United 3-1 Luton Town - 06/01/2018 - post match from p12

Aye let's get relegated because our best defender gets injured in a cup game, prospective new owners lose interest, Rafa leaves with no real future in sight. You can't be that short sighted. -

Not exactly hard for you to ignore it, or at least it shouldn't be. -
So when he was 15? There isn't a person alive who hasn't done something stupid when they are 15. Unbelievably pathetic.

If he wasn't on twitter much I'd agree, but fact is anyone who is on twitter as much as Quinn know pretty easily what is legitimate and what is made up bollocks. I have no sympathy. -

Not to mention despite what Rafa and the players say, there's no way in hell the takeover stuff isn't having an impact on the team. It will be so much better for everyone once this is all over, even if that means no new players. -
Wouldn't worry then, ESPN have never reported something accurately with regards to football. They are about as irrelevant as BBC is to American sports.

Surely we can sell Odin to China?

Fair enough if that's the case tbh. Also as I know absolutely nothing about this sort of stuff can we make an announcement along the lines of "takeover completed subject to confirmation by the Premier League" or is that not allowed? -

Doesn't it need to be ratified by the Premier League? How long does that process take? If it is to happen soon I imagine that would have to mean it's already done. Unless I'm missing something, genuinely interested in knowing either way though. -

Watch the oil suddenly dry up. Just waiting for Trump to unleash nuclear armageddon the second the takeover is confirmed If nothing else i think you just confirmed the new owner is in fact Trump. -

Is there a reason this thread is suddenly positive? -
Probably because you haven't seen him play in last two years, there's a reason Swansea was able to get him. He has been and will continue to be utter shit.

I disagree like, if Lascelles gets injured we could realistically never win another Premiership game again I think we should definitely bring in an experienced no-nonsense centre back for the bench. That says more about how bad the rest of the team is than a need for more defenders imo. -

Maybe it's Hindsight but I wasn't here when the team announced so I don't think it is. But I don't understand the criticism for the team tbh, on paper at least more width and mobility sounds much better than persisting with players who are flat out offering fuck all. I'd like Merino to be one of the midfielders, but in general Atsu, Murphy, Ritchie and Perez seems much more preferable a front 4 than persisting with the other crap forwards we have. -

Dunno why people are so critical of Murphy tbh, he's a kid and I don't mean in age but in match experience. It's quite obvious he's raw and going to make mistakes while he learns, but at least he's trying to get better unlike some at the club. Expectations on him just seem very harsh. -

Bet Aarons would be worst, a lot of people like him but he's never done anything. -
Most teams played two up front then though, it's a lot easier to score goals with a partner and the general tactics have changed. The drop off in having loads of great scorers doesn't really surprise me tbh, it's just a product of the environment changing and that goes for a lot more than just strikers. I imagine people older than you felt the same way about the game you grew up with as you do about today's game.

It's way too early to be talking about dominance with regards to City and multiple seasons, there's a reason why back to backs or further don't happen that often. Teams adapt and copy what's best to beat the champions, I mean look at the history of the CL for example only Madrid have retained and I still feel like that was mainly due to competition dropping off significantly. It's not a very easy thing to keep over multiple seasons, don't get me wrong I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen but I think talk of it happening is very premature.

Not to mention in keeper terms he's a fucking child. -
We were linked with Cenc Tosun over two months ago in one of the Sunday rags, now he's supposedly heading for Everton. It could be that Slimani was our no 1 target all along, and that is why we've not pursued Tosun. I fairness it's not just a couple of rags, it's been pretty consistent for months now. I definitely think Rafa wants him, but obviously with the takeover situation that isn't happening.
