I know people will dismiss it out of hand but his record despite playing on the wing a lot of the time is pretty good..... But yeah i doubt that tbh, for one he's far too old.

His defending has been great for the majority of the season, yes its been poor in recent weeks but when the whole defence is falling apart around him its not surprising a 22 year old fullback struggles to maintain his performances. Signing Debuchy and a CB will help him a lot and Colo for that matter, they both seem to have lost confidence in the abject performances of those around them. I don't think he's overrated at all tbh.

On paper i'd argue only Chelsea in this league would be in the discussion, most teams in the league have problems at fullback.

With Debuchy's imminent signing he should be one of the players in the squad to feel the most benefits as now we have a RB who can actually stretch the game so he can just do his thing. Ridiculous he's only 22, what a player.

I agreed with you that he's not on a Benzema level in all round play but i don't agree that its merely competent. The only reason it looks bad is because Benzema has the technique of a playmaker, but in reality its still good IMO. Its better than Ba's for example.
