Ha! would be class if Agger was sold, one of the few players they have that should be playing in the CL.

Are we dreadfully short at RB? Honest question. Simpson hasn't been sold yet. Debuchy would be an improvement, no question. But we also have another year before Simpson goes (most likely) and we have a number of players who can fill in there. I expect they realize this and so aren't going crazy throwing cash at lille trying to force this through immediately. 6.2m is'nt crazy cash though, it's not like Lille are asking for 10m or more. I didn't say it was crazy cash I said they won't go crazy throwing cash. By that I meant they have a valuation and because the need is not very pressing they aren't willing to vary from that valuation much. Things may change later but that's the status right now it seems. Oh right, yeah that makes sense.

I agree with the sentiment... Though you are obviously overlooking Chelsea... Hopefully next week things will start to move... As someone mentioned earlier it's more to do with the fact we have signed no automatic first team upgrade yet that is making people more anxious... Arsenal have not exactly done nowt either, Spurs signing Vertonghen and Sigurdsson is hardly nowt either.

September 1st. Bit unfair that, when the deadline closes on September 3rd atleast give Mike a chance to embarrass us on deadline day again.

hes 27 6 million plus add ons should be more than enough. hes only a right back Go to bed. its a good offer why should they want more? How is it a good offer for an attacking international RB who not only is good in defence but provides an attacking outlet too.... only a RB mentality is one of the most short sighted posts i have read on here. fullbacks are one of the most important positions in the modern game because if they are good at going forward they can act as an extra player in attack. 8m euros is cheap for a player of Debuchy's quality, also 27? 27 is young players don't just suddenly decline when they go past 25. but their values do decline, hence why a Zlatan Ibrahimovic has moved for less on his last two moves despite having very good seasons. True, but 8m euro's is still a very good deal for us even though he's 27 and he's just turned 27. He's still got at least 5 years at the top level. Anyway, hope we come back but if not move on.

So what lol, you cant get everyone for 4m ffs. £6.3m is cheap for a international level attacking RB, i understood with the De Jong saga because that was ridiculous but Lille are hardly asking for ridiculous money here.

I don't like this Seydoux guy.

Cazorla and Sahin would be a pisser. TBF, you could argue they're both additions to their attacking midfielder mountain. Sahin is a CM so no not really, their attacking midfield options currently are Rosicky and Ramsey so getting someone of genuine quality to provide passes to the wide players and who ever plays upfront is probably needed to. Outstanding signings IMO.

Who says we are not? we have been linked with him before so i wouldn't be surprised if Malaga's financial interest didn't peak our interest.
-
Implies they are resigning to his exit IMO, good news.
-
It's not realistic because we would never loan anyone to simply nurture him for someone else. The only way we would ever loan anyone is if it's on a Carroll like basis and we buy him at the end of the loan.
-
He was playing for Madrid in 2007 man, point is fullbacks can go for longer than 25 or 26. Please let's not act like 27 is too old, he would have at least 5 years in him at the top level. The whole he's in second half of his 20s or approaching 30s meaning he's not good enough really annoys me, there's so many examples of players playing at the top level well into their 30s. If we sign Debuchy which i believe we will then he will have at least 5 years at the top level.
-
Exactly and besides most fullbacks with good engines and he has a fantastic engine go to around 34 or 35, the whole he's approaching 30 or he's past 30 so he's suddenly not good any more mentality really annoys me. In fact off to the football pet hates thread i go ! Getting a bit carried away there but Could be could be! We ganna be the next Milan like Not saying he will but fullbacks who have good engines usually do go to around their mid 30s, for example Roberto Carlos retired yesterday and he's 39.
-
The mentality that if your close to 30 or already 30+ then your no good any more really pisses me off.

Why are we talking about next season? if we don't sign him this summer ( which we will) then we would look at other targets before too long. But i'm not concerned about any of this at all, it will happen IMO.
-
Even 8m euros would be a great deal, but 6m euros would be a rip off considering there's no clauses etc etc. It probably shows how cheap fullbacks are across the board, 8m euros for an international attacking fullback who excelled at the Euros is quite frankly in this day and age is "cheap".

So L'Equipe are reporting it now? must be true then. Just hope it gets accepted now. Also i agree with some of the posts in the last few pages, this will happen its just a matter of time really. What we are doing is not too dissimilar is what Barcelona have done in recent years, i.e. we know he's wants to come so we refuse to go above our evaluation knowing they will buckle at some point. Maybe a risky strategy but i'm pretty certain the end result will be Mathieu Debuchy in black and white.
