So true, the important thing is to just get them over the line. I'm sure everyone want's deals done quickly and early but it doesn't seem possible as long Pardew gets the targets he wants before the deadline i'm sure no one will care in the end. If you look across the board, hardly anyone have even close to finishing their business yet.

Completely agree, for me it's important to try and get Debuchy ( or another fullback if it isn't possible) in before the start of the season. The other targets are less important because they would be transfers that more provide competition for current starters and i would feel much more at ease us signing players like Carroll for example after the season starts than i would signing Debuchy because he's going to be an undisputed starter. For what it's worth i'd rather we get all our signings before the season starts, but that doesn't seem like happening so if i was forced i wouldn't be completely against us signing the rest of our targets after the season starts as long they are done before the deadline.

Agreed, doesn't stop the whole window from being a terribly tedious experience though.

From following the thread from page 1 all the quotes i've read from the Lille end are for 10m Euro... £8m... Where have you seen Lille say 8m Euro?... Page 1 was a long time ago, they agreed to come down to 8m euros a very long time ago ( due to Debuchy's will to leave i imagine) i dont know about quotes from Lille but practically every report in France say that Lille want 8m euros. I highly doubt they are all wrong.

I tested between 9 and 11 of the N-O forum puns to see if they met a criteria for a ban. The results were very surprising. No pun in ten did.

They do want 8m euros though, we have offered 6m euros which obviously isn't enough as far as Lille are concerned. I dont know where your getting this 10m euros from. Practically everywhere i have seen says they want 8m euros, which is around £6.2m.

I hope we are interested i really do, it would make so much more sense than paying 12 million for Carroll or 14 million for Remy etc etc. That's less than 6.5m pounds, ridiculous.

Unbelievable how many people on Twitter who think we have bid £6m, i don't see 1 article where it says this but people still think we have. Like you say if we bid £6m he would probably be signing the contract by now.

I did'nt mean by his price, i meant by the overall press he get's a lot of people in this country don't even know who he is. Besides the price is supposedly 12.5m according to reports in Spain. Those who have watched Spanish football will know about him. Not necessarily because most just watch Barca and Madrid, he doesn't get anywhere near the hype as some players but i expect that to change when he moves because Silva and Mata where hyped nowhere near as much as they are now when they played in Spain.

It will tbh, he's like a mixture of Fabregas and Pires he's a ridiculously underrated player and people will see that this season. Mainly because Spain have Mata, Silva and Iniesta

If Debuchy cant happen i'd be happy with that yes, despite he's stagnated since breaking into the Dutch first team there's obvious talent there ala Santon.

We obviously value De Jong/Carroll more than we do Debuchy. Obviously as they are strikers and a lot younger, but the point remains i doubt the extra million here and there would effect us that badly with other targets. Then we spend an extra here and there with other signings and we end up with one less player Maybe but i still doubt it, in any case for me this is the most important signing out of anything this summer. It fills the last weak spot in the first team the other signings are depth while important it isn't as important getting a fullback in who can only contribute on the ball. Probably will still happen, but if we miss due to a difference of 750k-1.5m then it's a bit silly IMO especially when you consider we have shown this summer we have money. ( or at least we are putting offers in that suggest we do)

£6.2m which is apparently their value is hardly overspending and would still be a great deal. Also we offered £12m for De Jong did'nt we? i highly doubt spending 6.2m on Debuchy would hardly effect other transfers and we was willing to spend 12m on Carroll.

Azpilicueta is younger and the price quoted isn't a great deal of difference, 8m pounds i heard. Also maybe they just prefer him. Quite frankly if Debuchy didn't happen i'd love if we could get someone like that in how ever unlikely it may seem. Plus it sounds like Debuchy wants to join us so maybe that's why they looked at other targets.

Are we dreadfully short at RB? Honest question. Simpson hasn't been sold yet. Debuchy would be an improvement, no question. But we also have another year before Simpson goes (most likely) and we have a number of players who can fill in there. I expect they realize this and so aren't going crazy throwing cash at lille trying to force this through immediately. It is a luxury signing. We have enough to cope without Debuchy, which is the basis of our lax attitude to signing him and playing the waiting game to get him cheaper, imo. Simpson "might" be sold if/when Debuchy comes in but Pardew had mentioned keeping Simpson either way. Exactly this. The problem with all that is Santon would still be the only fullback who is comfortable in possession and good going forward. Which is why signing someone like Debuchy is so important. Signing a fullback is just as important as anything else this summer, when Simpson gets the ball attacks just break down immediately.

Speaking of which i'm a bit confused as why our dealings are so much in the public domain this summer, not like Ashley tbh.
