Back of the net. While a centre-back would be nice, 10 + Debuchy and the first XI is sorted. Exactly the rest of the signings we want are merely to add quality competition, so say if a key player gets injured then the back up isn't a lot worse say with like Marveaux and Jonas. Of course right now the window is disappointing, but if we were to sign 3 players like Pardew said by the end of the window well anyone really care? I know i won't, which is why i'm not going to go completely nuts until the window closes, which is why it's pointless judging until the window closes. We could go out and agree a fee next week for Debuchy and the mood will completely change.

Valencia maybe not very flashy and nigh on one-dimensional but he's very effective and extremely consistent. I'd take him over Nani as well.

Of course it's not ideal and i'd rather at least get a RB in before the Spurs game because that's the only real weakspot in the starting eleven. But if you look across the board we are not alone, Mancini said he wants a couple more players, Ferguson, AVB, Wenger all said the same and supposedly Chelsea want a couple more too. As long as we do get the players in that Pardew speaks about before the deadline i'm not overly concerned. As for the RB spot, don't you have confidence in Perch there? i though he did well when he played there when we beat Chelsea 2-0 at end of the season.

Van Der Wiel's situation is a lot like Santon's actually. Hyped as a youngster but somehow has lost his way and seem's to have stagnated over last 2 years but what is not up for debate is like Santon is Van Der Wiel's ability. He could be the next player we turn from "damaged goods" to "brand new" again. I prefer Debuchy, because i know what i'm getting but if we can't get Debuchy then you won't see me complaining about Van Der Wiel coming instead.
