Right on cue https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/rafa-benitez-frustrated-at-impasse-in-transfer-talks-at-newcastle-1-9191321
-
They still owe about treble that in transfer fees How the hell did they get 6.6 for nDong ? That daylight robbery. Torino are stupid. It's less than half what they paid for him - another transfer market success story
-
Can someone do an executive summary?
-
See the Sun doubled down on the Sterling stuff today https://www.football365.com/news/mediawatch-special-raheem-sterling-and-the-sun-again What the absolute fuck are they playing at??
-
He's come from running a non-league club - just things like non-playing staff salaries, stadium running bills, policing costs etc will be way more than he's used to.
-
Looks to have bulked up a fair bit since he left us Still the same Mitro like - could almost picture Rafa shouting at the telly when he gave that free kick away on the edge the box in the 89th minute
-
No more parachute payments so would need a big reduction in wages
-
Aye but they are showing it for free on https://www.youtube.com/btsport That's cracking news, was worried I might not be able to find a decent place to watch it
-
Aye, I think they might struggle. People are pointing out how well the relegated clubs last season did, but they didn't need completely rebuilding like this lot. They have to find a manager, try and give away all the overpaid shite that's still on their books and somehow put together a new squad with very little money and only about 10 weeks until the season starts. Good luck with that.
-
It couldn't be more obvious that this is going to go hilariously wrong, they've been taken over by the Trotters ffs
-
There's a hell of a distinction between 'his money' and 'money he had raised'. Does he really have £40m? Think I read that he's paying it in instalments
-
Says 50 million plus money raised from sales though, so just shifting Mitro and a couple of others could boost that to nearer 80 million, which i reckon would in theory be enough for him to stay. Then of course the issues about him actually being able to spend it when and how he wants would still be there.
-
He's been brilliant for weeks now - it's so weird seeing our players improving like this, I really don't know what to make of it
-
Aye. If he maintains this kind of form he's possibly got a better all round game than Shay even.
-
You very rarely see Kante getting schooled, Mo is awesome
-
Only 7% of their income from ticket sales last season, shows just how important the TV money is for Premier League teams. Short has put in 260 million in total, has taken them down 2 divisions and looks like walking away with nothing - fuck me that's been a poor investment
-
Aye, they still can't magic away all the overpaid shite they've got stuck on long contracts
-
That's where the hope lies for Huddersfield - at home on the last day against an Arsenal side with a terrible away record, think if they need to win that one they will.
-
I thought Rafa would have wanted to have a good look at him to see if he was worth following up on next season. Looks like he's already decided
-
I watched their games against Man Utd and Liverpool and they played some canny stuff, Darren Moore is setting them up quite attacking and they're just going for it - think this will be a close game.
