This means they can never truly break me; "What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.” That said, they're testing my patience to the limit right now. We're being run in the same fashion as Sports Direct, a bargain basement, lowest common denominator business model and it stinks. Cabaye leaving really really pissed me off, not because he left (we all knew he probably would deep down) but the fact that we didn't replace him makes absolutely no sense from a footballing perspective. This season's a write off now and particularly after a very credible first half makes it all the more galling tbh. It's gutting right now and there's probably more to come which we'll have to go through but all-in-all, they can't take away my love for Newcastle United and all that it stands for

Kaiz posted something about what clubs would you gladly see wiped off the footballing map and it got me to thinking. Given we are all different ages, from different places, with different biases etc it would be interesting to see who you'd pick to be in the Premiership if it was down to you. Obviously we are suspending reality here but they have to be eligible to play, so any football league clubs effectively. Use whatever criteria you like, personally I'm picking mostly clubs I feel or at least remember to be top flight clubs. My Premiership would be; Arsenal Aston Villa Blackburn Rovers - really old traditional club Burnley - see above Chelsea Coventry City - mainstay in my youth Derby County - just because Everton Leeds United - don't like them but they are a big club Liverpool Manchester City Newcastle United Norwich City Nottingham Forest - mainstay in my youth Sheffield Wednesday - mainstay in my youth Sheffield United - need them for a good derby Southampton Tottenham Hotspur Watford - liked their kit as a kid West Ham United -
Sometimes, a thing can be so wrong it becomes right, but in this case, it's just wrong, plain wrong.

Fuck Joey Barton, the absolute twat

They've been around for longer than Liverpool IIRC - were even formed three years before us. I like Fulham. "Proper club" . Reminded me of a thread I wanted to start, where people would say which three teams in the top two English divisions they like/don't mind if are successful, and which three they would choose to remove from existance. You should start that thread would make for interesting reading
