The thought of Chelsea burning through or otherwise repelling managers and ending up with Pards is unreasonably funny.

I’m not sure riding the bench as a #3 GK does much for a young player’s development. Nor does it much benefit the team (what wisdom are most 18-year olds going to impart on their more seasoned colleagues?) Much rather than an experienced pro in the role, particularly one who’s a teacher of the game, and send the young guys out on loan to get game time.

Part of me is intensely irritated by the myopia of some of these clubs. There’s little to no thought of hiring a manager and allowing him the chance to build something. The only goal is to win immediately and at all costs, not recognizing that there are likely only a handful of managers capable of doing so anyway. It’s such a cynical, dipshit way to approach the game and would drive me absolutely crazy as a supporter To say nothing of ownership that insists on meddling directly in football affairs, rather than hiring a DoF to build a coherent footballing structure and working harmoniously with their manager. We’re really fortunate at NUFC.

Another for the meat grinder. He’ll not bring any of these clubs immediate success, and these clubs have zero interest in building something sustainable, so he’ll get chewed up and spit out and they’ll bring in the next flavor of the month.

Agreed, he’s 2nd choice at best for a poor team at this level. As a 3rd striker who checks the “homegrown” box was my thinking.

At some point it seems like a no brainer to go back and get Armstrong and Woodman as squad fillers. Dunno if either is ready to ride the bench though.

A chance to win any trophy is a good thing. I won’t poo-poo European competition regardless of the caliber of the tournament…one of the few bright spots of the Ashley/Pards era was that EL run. It would be a great opportunity to get the younger players match time and tournament experience as well.

I like the flexibility Kelly brings. I dunno if he’s a guy we want as first-choice over the long run, but he’s a PL-quality CB who can also plug in at LB. At LB, he lets us go to a back 3 in attack, as Howe seems to like. Botman New CB Kelly Tosin That’s very good depth over the next few years.
