Going further back i can remember going to the 2006 QF games against Brighton where we won on pens Krul, Cowan, Deverdics (Morris 82mins), Marr, Huntington, Cavener, LuaLua (Little 87mins), Doninger (Godsmark 100mins), Carroll, Troisi, Critchlow. Subs n/u: Reay, Forster. Krul, Forster and Carroll all went on to have very good careers. Huntington, Lua-Lua, Deverrdics all still playing league football. Troisi ended up at Atalanta and incredibly Juventus and is now playing for Melbourne V in the A League. Don't think any of the others made it

Was massively highly rated as well. His next (permanent) club will be crucial. Back to Rangers? Possibly, they do seem to have an ex Newcastle young contingent, not including the 5 that went on loan the other season. Trying to persuade a mate to go to that FA Youth Cup game and was saying how i've been to a few in the past. Interesting to see where players end up at. http://www.thejournal.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/newcastle-united-u-18s-0-aston-4460514 I went to this one in 2010, a 5,000 crowd and the line up was: Alnwick, Tavernier, Dummett, McDermott, Henderson (Nzuzi 46), Folan (McCorrigan 90), Ameobi, Inman, Airey, Newton, Adjei. Alnwick and Tav both at Rangers. Inman and Peterborough, Newton at Cambridge United and obviously Sammy and Dummett still here. Certainly didn't think Dummett would be one of those starting for us 7 years down the line, he looked pretty limited then and struggled with controlling the ball, was thinking Tavernier, Sammy and McDermott may be most likely. Airey was also highly rated but he didn't amount to anything - think he was at Blyth then nothing since, maybe playing in the Northern League or something?

From .com: Newcastle U18s will face Spurs in the Quarter Finals of this season's FA Youth Cup competition at St. James' Park on Monday February 27th - and entry is free. Kick-off is at 7pm and a result must be achieved on the night, via extra time and penalties if required.
  5. Stourbridge currently 3-0 up at half time so they'll go into second and 7 behind Blyth having played the same amount of games. They look the only team consistent enough to realistically threaten Blyth. Grantham are in great form but have to much ground to make up IMO. February is a big month though Blyth away at Warrington tomorrow and then Stourbridge have a tough away game at Grantham on Saturday. Blyth go to Stourbridge on Saturday 18th and then go to Spennymoor on Tues 28th. If they come through those 2 fixtures and still have at least a 5 point lead then i'm sure they will win the league
  6. Brighton salvaged a draw there and fair play to them, i've lost count of the times they have come back from being behind to draw or usually win, whereas we have done it just once all season - that Norwich game. That said, after they beat Fulham and we lost to Blackburn on Jan 2nd, we were 2 behind them having played a game more so potentially 5 adrift. Since then we have got 10 points from 4 games, they have got 7 from 5 and are now 1 point behind. I'm still more concerned about Huddersfield, Reading and Leeds' results though.
  7. What are you blathering on about now? Nut said it was like Chelsea and Man City - I said it wasn't. As their squad is nowhere near as comparable. Nobody said it was a definite win. You do realise that Chelsea have a bigger gap to the likes of Spurs and Man City than we do to Huddersfield despite playing 5 games fewer? Before yesterday we'd lost exactly 25% of our leagues games - we're not some untouchable force. Provided we don't have a shocker with some of our other tough away games this month, i'd happily take a point at Hudersfield next month
  8. Wanted a draw, but Hudders win is better than Leeds, so not too bothered with that tbh
  9. Their next game is as good a game as you can get at this stage to be honest. Southampton have lost 6 of their last 7 league games, are generally very poor away (W2 D3 L7) and this is their last game before their League Cup final so i doubt they will be making last ditch tackles etc. If you can get 2/1 or equivalent on Sunderland then i'll probably stick a bit on it.
  10. We all agree the preferred outcome in the West Yorkshire derby is: 1) Draw 2) Huddersfield 3) Leeds Looking forward to this one
  11. Quite interesting seeing respective clubs records this season for league games on Sky in terms of both how many times they have featured and how they generally fare. Our record isn't great when you consider our non Sky record is P19 W16 D0 L3, but villa's record is shocking as away from the cameras they have P15 W7 D5 L3. Our game vs Brentford was initially meant for Sky but was removed and i think we have 4 games in the coming 6 weeks or so on Sky, whereas Villa just have 1 more - against us. Brighton have a very good record, their defeat the other night was just their second after the 2-0 defeat at SJP earlier in the season Aston Villa P14 W1 D7 L 6 Newcastle P10 W4 D 2 L4 Brighton P9 W6 D1 L2 Leeds P9 W4 D1 L4 Nottm Forest P8 W4 D1 L3 QPR P8 W2 D2 L4 Sheff Wed P7 W4 D1 L2 Derby P7 W3 D1 L3 Norwich P6 W2 D2 L2 Wolves P6 W2 D2 L2 Huddersfield P4 W2 D0 L2 Reading P2 W1 D0 L1

Home to Spurs in the quarters, no date or venue. I'll go if it's at SJP.
  13. That Prick Martin the ref here in the Wigan game
  14. Hardly saw him that first half and has been just as ineffective here.
  15. Still have a game to play on Saturday evening
  16. No difference really as there is a 3/4 place playoff game on Saturday. If anything the 48 hour gap might increase the chance of an injury
  17. Howay the draw, both drop 2 points, Brighton are still within one game of us and Huddersfield don't get too much in the mix bearing in mind the will be 7 behind with us still to go there where they have been very good this season.
  18. But then again, i'd gladly take 2nd place now if offered.
  19. Well i'd be pleased with a draw anyway...
  20. Not concerned at all about Town? 7 behind if they win here and are excellent at home, have a great record against the 'big boys' and we still have to go there. Would prefer a draw myself and had this have been Brighton vs Leeds or Reading then i'd want Brighton to win.
  21. Good chance there for Udders and Brighton could have been down to 10 min inside the first 2 mins. Bruno already booked would have been booked a second time had he already not have been booked after 30 seconds
