Sean Longstaff (now playing for Leeds United)

Same goes for Josef Yarney, who will replace Mbemba. Amazing that we have become even cheaper, flicking squad players and replacing them with kids who may or may not be good enough... At least if they do well we can sell them at a huge profit which we're bound to benefit from -
Not arsed if he goes if hes replaced like, hes a grafter and decent in the tackle but shits himself if he has to find a forward pass.
-
I think even with the current squad he would find a way to keep us up, I'm man enough to admit I've questioned him at times so far in his tenure and in some cases rightly so and in some cases out of frustration, but its obvious the more he works with his players the better we get, it wouldn't be a top half finish and it would probably be a battle but I think we would come out of it and stay up. Its ridiculous that we are even having this conversation, this easily could and should be one of the most exciting times in a decade of following NUFC, we should be seeing us loosen the purse strings a bit, making strides and everyone confident ready to take on the new season and move forward, but here we are again hoping we at least spend what we bring in from sales and slowly starting to pray we get someone like Rondon in because nobody better will be paid for, and worrying about Rafa leaving. Just a shit sandwich all round.

Everyone loves a bargain, frees, loans and budget deals are fine when used in the right way, would be happy with that if we spent the money we brought in from the bigger sales in the most important areas, which we all know is a quality striker and a couple of quality midfielders.
-
Even though its completely expected and I'm entirely used to it, this is definitely the most frustrated I've felt by an NUFC pre-season. Utter incompetency.
-
Same old story, wouldn't be as big a problem if that 10 million was immediately reinvested in a quality replacement. On Merino though I'm mildly disappointed, didn't think he was anything special but certainly had the potential to be, still don't think he was quite up to the pace of the premier league, but that may have come with time, hopefully we wont regret this one too much.
-
We better start monitoring the fuck out of some players soon like, other teams are starting to make strides. Could see us dragging the Mitrovic and Ritchie deals out to the last day of the window then failing to bring in replacements.
-
Hes better than what we have for that position but it would feel a bit underwhelming. Has he scored an away goal in the league yet?

Jamaal Lascelles (now playing for League One Leicester City)

Whether we like it or not though West Ham are showing ambition and would probably be the more attractive option right now, it's not like they are managed by Moyes anymore either, seems strange that Ryder doesn't know if the bid is genuine but seems to have inside track on Lascelles and his agent? Reads like a look at me look at me tweet. -

On the plus side if we accept 25 million we might get another tenner towards a quality striker? -

If this gets anywhere near 40 million I can see Fat Ash stepping in, if he goes the season is a write off before it begins. -
Also I think the net spend will be less than last season, Ashley logic is that we finished 10th spending 35-40 million, the aim is 17th, therefore spend 20 million and we'll be fine.
-
Leon Best looked a much better player in the prem for us than in the championship, always found that strange. Was a really good link up striker to Demba Ba.
-
Sick of hearing about this now, either fuck off or stay already.
-
So far 4m spent on Dubravka but no other signings nobody even looking close to signing and one of our top talents in Merino has the strongest transfer link to leave us? Sounds exactly like NUFC, thats just the way it is and anyone who thought it would be much better by this point are pretty much deluded.
-
If we sell him to another PL team he will blatantly outscore Kane and Salah next season.

Jamaal Lascelles (now playing for League One Leicester City)

Wouldn't sell him at any price with Ashley in charge, hes worth so much more to us than footballing ability alone, replacing what he gives us would be nigh on impossible and hes not even the finished article. If any real bid above 25 million comes in Ashley will step in and he will be gone, of that I'm absolutely certain. -
Well done Jonjo! On a great season.

Deserved really, can't argue too much about it.

This will be the bargain of the summer. -
Happy with Rafa, happy to be safe, but surprised how easily he has let the players down tools, its all well and good writing it all off because we're safe but these guys are getting paid fortunes to win football matches, its obvious since the second we beat Arsenal that they aren't interested in doing their best to see us as high as possible. It's ok to be happy we're safe while also being angry at the manner in which we've ended the season, though it might not seem like on it here at times.
-
Gut feeling is that hes a dud, but more than happy to be proved wrong.
-
I think hes done enough to earn himself a place as a squad player next season, but he's definitely a very average player, who is playing out of his skin at the moment and that wont last forever, I think its still an area we could do with a big upgrade with hopefully Merino stepping it up next season too.

Islam Slimani - Returned to Leicester
Tiotes Witch Doctor replied to Figures 1-0 Football's topic in Football
I think he looked very promising from the little we saw, looked much more useful, quick and skillful on the ball than expected, I was thinking he was more of a big lump Carroll type but to be fair he seems to have that side to his game too, I wouldn't be completely against signing him but it would be a bit of a risk with the little we saw. In reality though when we sign our usual bargain bin wasters we'll all be wishing we had took a punt on this lad. But I doubt Rafa would be around anyway if that happened, and I wouldn't give a fuck anyway.
