I hadn’t thought about the fee like that but you’re right. I’d still prefer immediate impact, not sure we will have the luxury of time.

Having watched McAtee at the u21’s think it will take a couple of seasons for him to become the level we would want. No guarantee in his development would be a pass from me.

He’s got numbers in his name and all.

A great striker, another who got to play international tournament football thanks to Eddie Howe.

Why don’t they eat at the club restaurant and leave an £80,000,000 tip?

Financial Fair Play / Profit & Sustainability

It’s speculative and Silverstone doesn’t appear to agree. What have we already missed out on? The trouble with these conversations is that neither of us knows. I have no issue with the (hypothetical) concept of being wrong about something but absent of Silverstone opening Pandora’s box and explaining the reality we’re doomed to go round in circles. So I’ll leave it there. -

You don’t think apt would look at what we’ve previously been able to get for a training ground sponsor in the event we looked to switch to a new sponsor at a new facility? Can’t say I agree. I’m happy to entertain PIF are not perfect but I would say I don’t think the no training ground sponsor is a particularly meaningful one, if indeed it is a mistake. if it was just a case of getting one in, they’d have done it by now. Literally anything would be better than nothing. -

Because you establish what sponsorship of the training ground is worth, or more specifically you have to prove (though I think it’s now the prem have to disprove) what something is worth. We know from the sale of Saint Maximin that this has a depressing effect. I don’t know how much sponsoring our current training ground is worth, but let’s say it’s not enough to meaningfully move the needle on transfers. Then we go to a new facility try to inflate the price and we have the ceiling of the old deal. APT is here until it’s not. Like I say, it’s best guess, but there will be a reason otherwise Sela would have just bunged some more in their deal for the training ground. -

Best guess would be, they want the new training ground to have a sponsor. If they do a year to year they will limit the value they can get for any new sponsor of the training ground. Silverstone said that they are waiting for the right deal at the right time, that these deals don’t fall from trees and that they would look to maximise the revenue of any deal. Any worthwhile money will come from a Saudi business, I imagine they are waiting to see what happens with city. -

Ah the old adage a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. -

We're a good footballing team that has won a trophy. We're consistently growing revenue. Botman, Guimaraes, Isak, Tonali, these are players that you sign if you are ambitious and willing to spend money. Eddie Howe is our manager and that looks to have been a very shrewd appointment which has closed the gap to the top clubs massively. It is the club management who have ultimate responsiblity for these decisions, so someone knows what they are doing. Anyone who thinks it is super obvious that we should be selling things to ourselves, would do well to think for a second that maybe there is a reason why this isn't happening. You're not smart if you can see something is obvious, you're ignorant if you can't comprehend that people better placed wouldn't be able to see the same thing. There is clearly a problem with the length of time it's taking to make some decisions, the appointment of the last DOF for example, where the club used an external recruiter which took forever only to then result in getting knocked back and then we just went through Eales. Likewise the training ground, where I rather suspect the emphasis is on maximising revenue so entering a deal when the value of the deal can be maximised. Do we even know what money we would actually be allowed to make from this? A lot of this stuff seems to be the footballing equivalent of pence on the pound. Certainly nothing seems lucrative enough to have avoided last summers sale of Anderson and Minteh, or to suddenly enable us to wage match clubs whose revenues dwarf ours. Imagine if the club had a one point deduction this season. I can understand caution from the club, these rules were literally refered to as the Newcastle rules in litigation. Any financial gap closing we might be able to acheive will, like Sela, come from Saudi you'd imagine, it's going to be scrutinised far more than any other club. -

We just need a cap on player registrations (25) for players over 18 years of age, no more multi club model and all loans to include an option to buy. -
The new Peter Lovenkrands

If reporting on the window was embargoed and we only heard once all signings had been completed we’d avoid a whole summer of relentless and pointless posts.
