Thats how it is with every young player at a 'big club.' Or with any decent young English player. Too much media hype and then they wonder why they never meet expectations. Ross Barkley, for example, I really want to finally be able to like an English player.. However I'm sure after the next 2 years of the media overhyping followed by a move to a big club and I'll hate him like everyone else.

hadn't heard of him, is he a striker? He was playing midfield when I watched him. Very quick, skilful, creative. Got an assist within about 2 minutes of coming on. Looks a great player - though I imagine if you're in America championship stuff must be difficult to see. It wouldn't surprise me to see him in the premier league soon. He's 18 I think.

We don't really have anyone else and he's still be decent for the national side I think. Jóhannsson will be better eventually but it's too early for him to start.

I was impressed by him in the preseason and when he came on against Palace (i think) He looks better than their last wave of young players but it's too soon to expect anything from him though.

Altidore isn't very good. That said, he is only 23 and could turn into something. He has the physical talent to become a good striker. If I had to bet though, I'd think his career would be similar to Bendtner.. Shit at a club level but serviceable enough for the national side. He should have never have moved clubs after finally having a successful season. Time will tell.

I'm honestly not quite sure what started it. My brother and I were always big football fans, so we wanted a (premier league) team to support. I know we have an English (and Scottish) background on both sides of our family and can trace the family roots back to the North East (though I think we discovered this after we picked Newcastle iirc).. Also being from the North East of the US as well, maybe we thought it would be fitting to support Newcastle as they were the only North East club (Sunderland weren't in the premier league then and we didn't fully understand the concept of promotion and relegation at the time, thank God.) Never thought it would end up like this though. It's funny trying to explain to American friends why I support Newcastle. I answer like it is most obvious thing in the world, why wouldn't you support Newcastle? It seems so natural now being this invested in the club, but I'm still not sure why I signed up for this. Now even my parents watch the games when we aren't home, and complain about Shola as if they were talking about some scrub on the Celtics. Hope I can finally make it over there this year, to make my 'fan' experience complete.

Half the crowd doesn't get there until the first quarter is nearly over and then they leave early when they're winning (and losing in the finals). Horrible place to put a team.
