He played well in the last game, tbf. It just seems weird. It's really weird. Feels like Beasley has been playing for 15 years. Guy's only 31 years old somehow I feel like I knew about Beasley before I gave a s*** about the sport. I remember the Revolution signed his older brother, who was supposed to be way better than him at the time. He was the first really hyped American player, he's playing in the Indoor Soccer league now.

No doubt he'd be a good player in the MLS. He's not they type of person that would attract fans though, which is going to be the main problem with a second team there. I have no doubt they will put together a decent roster but the Red Bulls haven't even been able to get fans despite having a good team and a new stadium the last few years.

Good shout, BC. Wouldn't hurt to go gangbusters and select a young team, even if it resulted in a poorer showing. Yup. Thats what we did in the 2009 gold cup. Got killed in the final by Mexico but it helped break in people like Holden, Goodson and others that would eventually be on the team. The 'good' players could use the time off anyways. We can send a good team to the 2015 one that actually matters.

Not bad. McInerney scored again tonight, he's gotta get a look if this keeps up. Want to see him, Gatt, Carona and Diskerud but there are too many old guys still hanging around. I think alot of clubs need to seel to bring an income in. Definitely understand that if the selling club is in dept (which most are to be fair) but wouldn't grabbing a few players plus some money show the supporters that at least they are getting something tangible in return.

Why don't clubs use player exchanges more when selling off their top players? Seeing all these crazy fees, it can't hurt to take a gamble on a few of the buying clubs younger or not wanted players (especially coming from a 'big club'). That Fulham deal where they got Kačaniklić and someone else from Liverpool for Paul Konchesky is a great example of when it works (I'm sure someone can think of better examples)

Jose and Colo both showed flashes that they could be good players, they just didn't perform consistently. Colo's price tag along with our terrible season that year made it seem a ton worse then he really was. Hard to blame a foreign player for not being able to adjust given all the chaos going on then. Back to this team, I think all of our January signing have shown flashes. It's hard to expect them to all hit the ground running in the middle of the season, in the "best league in the world". I think Cisse's run last season after he signed probably raised expectations for the average fan that these guys would be the same. Cisse's form was really a fluke (unfortunately) which he probably won't ever hit again.

Got excited when I saw that a thread was made Still think he ends up back at Liverpool or maybe Spurs. It seems like every young English player with a bit of hype ends up going to the "biggest" club they can choose, when the smart move would be going somewhere where they would play and contribute.
