He said something along the lines of when you’re a coach your ideas don’t always get used but now he is caretaker he can use them. I don’t know what they were. I am however a fan of his two jacket approach on Saturday, I’m a big fan of layers when the weather worsens.

Ah definitely, I don’t think Keane has done anything wrong there.
-
Superb from Barnes that, proper FIFA finesse goal.
-
What's kicked that off, did the fan make a comment about Keane signing autographs after a loss?
-
He has no worth to us dropping between Ritchie and Clark. You can see when he receives the ball there there is a glance to spot a runner, but if that's his plan, swap with Hayden and do it from the right hand side, try to pick out Maxi from a better angle.

Howe will already be well educated as to what this team needs to change and who needs to be brought into the side. He won't know the full scale until he's in there day-to-day working with the players. I really think our biggest obstacle until January is mentality, and getting these players to think differently won't be easy. Have us pushing higher up the pitch, create a link between midfield and attack and he's already half way there.

He needs to do a lot better, but he probably knows that himself. I don't know what's going on with him, he has aspirations of playing for his country and winning trophies for his club, the only thing that will stop him reaching the top is himself. I feel like you can tell quite early into a game what kind of 90 minutes it'll be for him, he hasn't been with it for a few games now.

Would have thought you'd make sure the lad who's never been to an away game before got on his bus but what do I know about using people for publicity then literally ditching them.

Lovely ball from big Joe to put Wilson through.
-
Thought he could have went to a back 4 earlier but much improved second half without being threatening. Maybe the change Potter made at half time and early in the second half helped. There's a lot of little things to put right with this team, most of them basic. I feel confident that Howe can get a tune out of them to keep us up.

There's been a couple instances there where having 3 centre backs leaves us with one spare and their runners from midfield being given space. I don't understand why it's not crossed Jones' mind yet to take off a defender for Willock.
-
You can see our back 9 are pushed up further forward but we seem to be happy to take steps back under no pressure, like that's our default. Brighton can push as far forward as they like at this point.
-
Found myself agreeing with a lot of what Jenas was saying. What was the plan for going a goal down? Did we even have a plan or have the players ignored it? Aside from an early "fucks sake" from Jones, theres not been a lot to suggest that he was unhappy with that half. Take a centre half off and stick Willock on to occupy the gaping hole between ASM and Wilson.

I hope this post makes me look daft at full time, but 5 at the back against Brighton seems particularly silly. 5 at the back surrenders the game immediately for us now, post-Rafa.
-
I'm going for a 1-0 to Newcastle. Full time. Camera pans to Eddie Howe, who is uncharacteristically wearing spectacles which he takes off and tucks into his breast pocket.
-
Shelvey and Dubravka in I would have thought.
-
I think Howe loves a diamond 4-4-2 with a bit of a flirtation with a 5-3-2.
-
New ownership, new era, and we're still bringing Bournemouth to Ritchie.
-
I don't think it was primarily the leak that made up Emery's mind. We've either failed to sell the club to him or he spoke to us out of politeness. It's a big ask to take a manager from the Champions League (albeit they're 13th in La Liga with 2 wins from 11), into a new club with new owners that nobody has any clue or reference point in terms of what they are like to work with day to day. Will they give a manager a say in transfers? Will they give a manager time if it takes until March to peel away from relegation danger? Where does Emery go if this move doesn't work out, does another Premier League club give him a chance or is he back to square one, rebuilding a team over a number of years?
-
I think he had refused to play on the wing because he had seen Bellamy do the same. After refusing to play on the wing for us, he then played on the wing for England in the next game IIRC.
-
That's the kind of sick behaviour you stick out wide left in a wide diamond midfield.
-
“We obviously played Leeds at St James’ Park about a month ago now, and that Rodrigo fella was in the middle. He was meant to be playing centre midfield and he was just all over the place. I said to him, ‘geez can you just stand still for one minute, because you’re just running around like a nutcase’.
-
Same commentator said in the first half that there "isn't a lot he doesn't know about football".
-
He's a dick, but soon he'll just be a minor annoyance when the TV studios roll him out to cover some of our games.
