  1. Still time for someone to cable tie themselves to the goalpost too.

    England

Some fans had a problem with him coming into the starting 11 after missing a couple of group games. I understand that you pick players on form, but some players have stepped up massively at international level for a long period of time now and can't be dropped because a player has hit form in time for a call-up. He's a safe choice for England. Rarely gets booked, rarely if ever makes a mistake and he carries the ball so well in possession. I'd make a similar argument for John Stones to be selected. Both players are exactly what this England team need.
  3. I believe he's still registered with the FA as a player even though he hasn't made our 25 man squad.
  4. I think we will improve on our wingers in the summer window and Wood will provide a decent option to us next season. For all of our wingers running and pressing, they’re not creative at all, aside ASM who will never be the player to cross with any regularity. I think out of everyone in the squad, Wood has missed Trippier the most. Yes we overpaid, and he had a bad game at Everton, but he has contributed to our upturn in form and probable survival.

Bring me the 'gloves are off' comments post-match.

    Dan Burn

I think part of him wanting to dispossess Iwobi so quickly came from a desire to launch a counter attack. They were dropping deeper and that was their first attack for a little while. Win the ball quickly, get it to Bruno and launch an attack with ASM was probably forefront of his mind. I think when it comes to the analysis from Howe and co, they'll be focusing less on the individual error and look more at what the team could do to prevent it.
  7. Everton playing like we were under Bruce.
  8. It's a joke if Hayden is punished for his comment but the officials aren't punished for their performance. It's a simple get-out anyways, he was referring to the home crowd as the extra man. Even though they could only be heard after Havertz put them in front.

Wilson was offside against Villa, wasn't he?

There's many better defenders who would make the same mistake, but I like that he looked disappointed in himself. He knew straightaway whereas I think some of the knackers we've had in the same position would need it explained over and over to them.
  11. He was putting the effort in. Was maybe a bit like a dog with a balloon on a couple of occasions, but the effort was definitely there from him.
  12. Textbook away performance. Expecting a very end to end final 20 minutes.
  13. This will be a good benchmark game, whereby in 2 or 3 seasons time, we can use it as a good measure of our progression.
  14. To be fair, I thought the way this was handled going into West Ham was the correct way. Keep it close to the chest so the opposition will have him in his mind, whether he plays or not. He may well be injured but why broadcast that?

    On this day...

Benetiz was appointed manager, 6 years ago today and proceeded to call the players in from a day off to take charge of his first training session.
  16. Ah shit, there's a faster clap. They're now both on my recently used and will be used correctly going forward.
  17. Football isn't a complicated game, but he's nailed the basics. He's got the players running through brick walls for each other and most importantly, he's got them happy and enjoying their football. I've said it before as have others, but to spend as long in the game as Bruce has and not once attempted to learn or teach something new, to never once look at improving or evolving as a coach... it should earn him endless amounts of stick and ridicule. A run of results like this for a man like Bruce would equate to another year in the job. To Howe, he'll be looking at ways of keeping it going, to magnify the negatives and address them. Who knows how far he will take us, I'm not too fixated on that. I'm enjoying watching my team again, I'm not dreading games, even Chelsea on Sunday under Ashley and Bruce would be a chore to watch. More out of blind commitment than any kind of hope or expectation. Now though, I believe we are looking at what we can do to win the game. Long may this continue.
  18. I'm going to go right ahead and trust the coaches, players and manager who have won 6 games out of 8, judge what is small time or not tbh.
  19. I told Armstrongs dad a few years ago that Rafa was right to let him go. Don’t make me look like a fool now.
  20. Hadn’t realised until that replay that Bruno went for the Rob Van Dam celebration.
  21. Just like The Goonies, Eddie Howes Mags never say die.
