  1. So ambitious they keep selling all their best players every year It's just not true as well. Did they sell Mane, Wanyama last summer when Man U were sniffing? They've sold Shaw, Lallana, Chambers, Schneiderlin, Clyne and Lovren to big clubs in the last two years, of course they're a selling club. Mane will probably go this summer. I strongly doubt Man Utd wanted Wanyama last summer in hindsight they would have been mad to turn down any of those offers: £12mn for Chambers, ~£20mn for Lallana, £30mn+ for Shaw, £25mn for Lovren (!). They've gone out and used that money to strengthen. Are you telling me Everton would be able to resist similarly inflated prices for their players? Lukaku will probably go this summer, likewise Stones. They are no more a selling club than anybody else outside the top 6 - look at Leicester potentially selling Vardy and Kante, and they just won the league Everton did turn down big offers for Stones last summer. Not sure they'll let Lukaku go either unless they make a big profit on him

I'd have expected more from a cousin of Stephen Ward
  5. He got offered a contract though
  6. Yes you feel like that which is fair enough and why players such as Kevin Nolan and Mark Noble have turned down the chance to play for Ireland in the past. Some people do feel a strong family connection to the country of their parents/grandparents though Genuinely not trying to troll here. But do you not think the large majority of players that are eligible for both. Are picking teams like Wales, Ireland, Scotland etc. Because they're clearly not good enough to play for England? I mean, Rob Elliot was your second choice keeper, until his knee went, wasn't he? Well yes the majority are, but the majority do also feel some connection to the country they declare for. There are some, like Kevin Kilbane who grew up in England but always thought of himself as Irish. Jack Grealish is another example of someone who felt Irish and English in almost equal measure, it took him a long time to decide who he wanted to play for and it was highly thought of that his agent wanting him to pay for England due to more sponsorship and endorsement opportunities was a big factor in his decision. The ones who grow up in Irish communities, playing GAA like Grealish and the boxer Matthew Macklin are going to feel a strong connection to Ireland. Steven Reid is another who felt more Irish than English

    Shola Ameobi

Not really. Lots of fringe players in the Premier League are only in the league because they are local to the club they're at, Shola, Ramage in the past or alternatively in the league because they got promoted with a club, for example Stephen Ward at Wolves and now Burnley wouldn't be a good player in League 1. Shola is also nearly 35 now

The only reason he was here for so long was because he's a local lad
  19. He may go on to be but he was very error prone for an awful lot of last season Very error prone? Really? I remember two clear errors that led to goals. For the most part, he was the least of our worries. Not every error leads to a goal. He lost the ball in bad areas and got outmuscled easily on a good few occasions As did every other player in our under equipped defence. For me, he was one of our better performers. I agree he was one of our better performers, just not our "best defender for ages"
