  1. Not watched, seen or heard anything about this march so far other than seeing score here. Presumably we've made Southampton look like one of the greatest ever teams
  2. My perception is that under Ashely's tenure we make the most average of teams/players look much better than they actually are. This is correct...regardless of the side, our lot generally make them look like prime-Barcelona. Brighton was a good example
  3. Comments like this deserve highlighting just to show up his and the club's disgraceful attitude. It would be a hell of a lot more refreshing to see us challenging
  4. Why isn't there more noise about the Burnley stuff? Their prospective new owner had actively been disqualified but seems to be suitable after a 5 week suspension???
  5. They're just about the last two that should be involved in any way shape or form to keep credibility. Might as well get Jimmy Nail and Tim Healy while at it
  6. As sceptical as I am over mimms he did say there would be a statement this week. Didn't give any indication of contents, so either a brilliant guess or has a contact somewhere relevant
  7. Just shows that talent alone isn't enough. I knew a guy in school who could do things that would make a football crowd orgasm but never got anywhere as he simply couldn't be arsed to go to multiple academies he was invited too, and just wanted to get stoned and drink all the time. Think everyone probably knows someone like that
  8. On pure talent alone he's one of the best that has ever been. He could do things that no player should be able to do. Unfortunately attitude and fitness do also count, which is why he's not up there with Messi/Ronaldo, and spent his last few years flitting from team to team. He had the misfortune to be under Pardew with us...and the Bruce at Hull. Just imagine him under Keegan instead of Ginola...would have been an all time legend for us at least
  9. Agree that if clubs change their minds they shouldnt be allowed straight back into their domestic leagues. But what about transfer fees and wages. Both of these are already distorted without the super league. Superleague wages will be astronomically high. Who outside of the superleague, is gonna buy a player from that league using their reduced tv rights budget?? When they say its a closed shop, that could be exactly what they mean. for clubs and players. Make them agree to licences that say if they don't join from one of the 'super' teams academy or from one of the other 'super teams', they are not eligible to play in domestic leagues. Also total squad sizes (including under21s) to be limited to 40, and loans to be abolished barring the exception that a team would not be able to field a team without one Yes there's probably some EU fair trade garbage in there, but if the non top -6 grow a spine it could be doable...especially as we may not be bound by EU law for much longer
  10. Saint-Max has a trick that everyone sees coming, but cant stop it. Hatem had a trick that no-one saw coming and the sat on their behind wondering what the hell just happened.
  11. Even Andy Gray has noticed how terrible watching us is.
  12. No-one knows what's going on in the background. As much as I want to believe Mimms he hasn't actually given any info of note. If he/she knows enough to know there will be a statement then surely he'd have an inkling of the content regardless of which way it goes, or at least caveat that his 'source' couldn't/wouldn't say Personally, i don't think we'll hear anything at all this week, and Mimms will be hounded off the forum EDIT...Ill refrain from comment in future if wrong
  13. How is it? A bit Porcine for those of Arabic persuasion. Must have been a publicity stunt planted by Qatari's, or is it just a mis-directional plant to make people think things are off? I'll keep my faith that the sandwich is a sign that the takeover will happen
  14. I also bought a sandwich today. Not sure if relevant to takeover but will announce next week
  15. Do have to wonder if any of our players actually watch recordings of the matches they play in. Surely if they did they couldn't say they play well with a straight face. The Saint is exempt obviously
  16. Exactly this. If Bruce had complained we'd sat back too much you can bet your life that Lascelles would have echoed that if pushed for an opinion. Actually I would have less of a problem if Bruce had always preached the mantra of defensive football, but he's laid the blame for it at Rafa's door, then every time we let a few in, turns out we were too attacking. He has absolutely no principles. My issue is that he is implying we should be defending purely 'because its Man Utd'. Disregard the fact Bruce has them playing the same way every game anyway. It indicates a fear of big names and/or reputations....ok for a kid or someone called up from the reserves, but the captain should be fronting up on this and calling a bad performance a bad performance. Man Utd spanked us a fair few times in the early 2000's but you'd never have heard Shearer (as a player) coming out after one of them saying we should have defended deeper because it was Man Utd. Edit...it's comments like that which have probably seen him ignored by England. As much as Southgate has his faults if he sees an inherent fear in a player then he's right not to call him.
  17. No self respecting team Captain should be showing this 'know your place' attitude in public at least. Yes it might have been Man Utd, but they aren't the all conquering force from the 90's, and have certainly shown they can be gotten at by not simply sitting back
  18. Short term it might increase revenue, but domestic audiences would lose interest pretty quickly I'd think. Wouldn't think most of a UK audience would be crawling over themselves to watch Dortmund vs Lyon for a league they've no interest in. Yes I know there are die-hard purists who will watch any football on TV but they aren't the majority. Obviously if this ever got the go-ahead it would be a subscription, but unless your own team was involved would you really be looking to pay for it, or just take it in if it happened to be on in the pub (post covid clearly)
  19. Bit harsh just because someone has an opinion, regardless of how wrong you think they are. At least he's consistent....Not liking Bruceball does in fact make you stupid apparently
  20. looks like a 5-aside goal where all the players fancy themselves as re-incarnations the best Brazilians. Nice on screen but could they do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?
