  1. For all the nerds the thing which is worrying me is the incoming squad cost ratio rules paired with PL’s heavy handed punishments. in our last accounts or wages to turnover ratio was 80%, the problem we have though is the new rules include amortisation which for us currently stands at 86.8m salaries stand at 198m. Basically as of our last accounts are squad cost calculation is more than 100% or revenue. To comply with these rules in future we need to either increase revenue by 60m or reduce costs or player trade to get to 60m basically squad cost will put a big dent in our ambitions. PS this came to mind due to Guehi deal, if it happens I expect it will cost us 20m per year.
  2. Waugh is on the latest athletic podcast discussing us and for some reason they have Phil Hay on (Leeds United reporter) and he’s absolutely desperate to talk us down, quite shocking like. “Asking if deep down Eddie is desperate to take the England job”

Wish someone would explain to that dipshit we can’t because of clubs like his and the stupid psr rules they back.
  4. He has to be, truly amazing manager.
  5. Tbh I don’t think fans have any bearing on these things, all depends on what the goal of the ownership is.
  6. Absolutely thanks for the concise data too! I’m not even the optimistic kind of fan, I just believe we have the quality to be challenging for the top 5. We’ve lost a third choice winger who never kicked a ball for us and our 7th choice cm. im desperate for signings but i dont see our squad as weaker.
  7. I think we can just look at the form table since Eddie took over, we are bonafide contenders and have been for awhile now. I think our style of play with a less congested fixture schedule will really shine again. im sure we all remember how rocky we were in December and January last season, i dont expect a repeat of that.
  8. Yes, challenging for top 5 is what we will do this season imo. What happened last season was an absolute freak occurrence and then we were still just pipped to Europe because City went on the piss instead of actually trying to win the FA cup. don’t get me wrong I’ll be gutted if we don’t sign anyone else but I Eddie is a magician and if you look at the spine of our team it’s really elite and befitting that.
  9. We will be challenging for top 5 at minimum imo. It we stay injury free will qualify for the CL.
  10. The history of the clubs aren’t particularly relevant imo, it’s more the make up of the owners involved. Ultimately just surviving in the premier league is very profitable. Who really has the ambition and financial clout to challenge the top? Might as well accept our place and ride the gravy train.
  11. We will know soon enough thankfully, for me we simply have to have a new stadium, the location seems to be of upmost importance to the fans hence the current site talk.
  12. Darlo or Gateshead. Capacity will definitely be reduced either way if they decide to build in place from scratch.
  13. Anyone, it doesn’t actually matter it’s temporary. Short term pain and all that.

  15. Iirc Atlanta are due a piece of the pie from any sale as well.

He’s never stood out to me, when I’ve seen him. Again I don’t think he’s bad but I don’t think he’s elite or has the potential to be so. I’m not sure what hype has to do with it mind, I’m one of the first to say I think Guehi is too expensive for us. I see this one of two ways personally from a FFP squad building composition. 1: your going high for a Guehi type (if not better, your basically dislodging Schar and are willing to pay the premium to do so. 2: your happy with Schar for this season and are looking for a player to come in with high ceiling to learn this season and really compete next season (think Tino, think Hall and think Gordon). This is how I think about it.

Fair enough, yes he will improve from average to good. I want Eddie spending time coaching players from good to excellent though. As mentioned, if I’m holding us to our stated ambitions we need to aim higher than Chelsea’s fourth choice right centre back.

You believe he’s good enough to be our starting centre half with the ambitions we have? Fair play if so.

This is all rumours of which most of them will be absolutely bullshit as you know. and to reiterate my original point, he doesn’t make sense unless your willing to commit to him as your first choice moving forward something which none of our rivals would. I know you rate a lot of players but you have to consider all of the factors when signing players and this would be a very expensive squad player. We are aiming to be competing in the champions league on a regular basis and for me he doesn’t hit the mark.

@KaKayup long list of clubs in the q to sign him.

Any of the sky 6 can pay 60m mind, we are uniquely fucked because our revenue is miles behind them. Im with you though, I do think he’s really expensive, but it’s extra expensive for us given our PSR us and Villa will have continue to have the biggest issues being compliant the others can just make ridiculous allowance, break the rules and not be investigated forever or sell hotels to themselves.
  22. I think given your framing of the question no, you aren’t mad. It’s a tough one right? Life without our mad Brazilian is a life I don’t want and Isak is legit one of the best strikers in the world he’s an absolute monster who is still improving. Gordon would absolutely torture us every time we play against him mind.

We are being opportunistic right, as usual ultimately everyone is stocked at centre half for now and I’m guessing this is what Palace are banking on. In 12 months time the market shifts maybe Liverpool need a CB maybe city do? Again, I don’t think the clause would be 75m I reckon around 60m. the goal of the clause wouldn’t be to keep him against his will, it would be to protect palace from the risk of losing him on the cheap and reward the player with a nice wage bump. Usually such situations arise because a player doesn’t want his club to take a haircut but wants to leave, everything seems to suggest he’s a good lad and a good pro so him doing this kind of thing makes sense to me.

I wouldn’t imagine the clause to be much higher than our current offer, it’s more a deal which protects palace from his contract expiring whilst rewarding Guehi with a higher salary and a guaranteed exit at a set fee. This will work well for all parties particularly once the window closes.

Good compromise for both him and Palace in this scenario.
