Reckon we end up with just Guehi and that’s it for incoming personally.
-
I haven’t read the piece, but if i were to guess 3 names it would be. Bowen Elanga Madueke.
-
I find elanga to be unlikely, all the reports were we wanted to include him in the deal with Anderson but forest weren’t having it. Reluctant sellers would certainly inflate the fee.
-
The fact they haven’t rejected it yet tells me we are closing to an agreement.
-
Who cares about the two back up keepers though? Totally forgot they existed personally. We are pretty stacked in central midfield with longstaff arguably being the worst, his numbers are obviously greater than Anderson. Minteh is a total unknown at this level if we are being honest with ourselves (I didn’t want to lose him either but here we are). I think given Sven’s injury, Dan burns age and Halls youth Kelly is a great pick up and offers much more utility to the squad. Orsula looks raw but at least it means we don’t have to run Isak into the ground and risk him getting those knocks again.
-
No chance, wages will be massive.
-
Not really Tonali who barely featured last season is obviously much better than Anderson from what I saw of Orsula he looked very raw mind We are certainly up on last season imo, despite it being pretty uninspiring as the starting 11 hasn’t been strengthened yet. (Ignoring Louis Hall).
-
Our window hasn’t really started yet it’s true but we aren’t weaker having lost a 7th choice midfielder and a third choice right winger mind. Im not going to be celebrating keeping our best players either, last time I checked we weren’t Palace and Mike Ashley has long since gone.
-
Yes and no, one of Chelsea’s biggest upcoming issues will be the massive amortisation they will be carrying into the future having guaranteed incoming in the next financial year will be very beneficial for them. I don’t think such a deal is out of the question based upon our previous deal with them.
-
Why wouldn’t Chelsea do a loan with an obligation like they did with Hall? They’ve literally shown willingness to do that kind of deal with us already
-
That feasibility study had been imminent for a long time.
-
No different, same financial year.
-
Given where we are, I wouldn’t be either
-
PSR is showing its teeth now, also who else is in for Guehi at these prices? Ultimately if he won’t extend his contracts our latest offer is very fair.
-
I think they will be more club sponsors than just for the Sela club, pre season friendly cup not even broadcast won’t bring much value to advertisers.
-
We didn’t don’t worry. Not a chance we shelled out 45m for a player on a 3.5 year contract, it defies logic.
-
If you’ve got nought to do how about giving a rough conservative value to each player in the squad (how much you think we could get for them) that way we can have a guess who will be the next FFP mandated sale
-
Aye the lack of transparency makes it really difficult to calculate these things. As you’ve mentioned as well, it’s not often premier league footballers take pay cuts
-
This is cracking work rich, thanks for putting it together. It’s important to realise too that the salary adjustments made to Bruno and Joe hit the bottom line, so we may have saved on amortisation but we are paying higher wages which would offset some of these savings.
-
Front loading is risky, you’re relying on your competitors to keep you compliant essentially which carriers huge risks. Imagine if that Gordon for Gomez deal would have happened, I’d be fuming and I’m sure everyone else would be too. It’s things such as this why I feel we ought to be cautious with who we are buying. Guehi will be a cracking player for us I’ve got no doubts but the fee is going to really hurt us, we simply don’t have the revenue to be splashing out 60m on fees on a consistent basis without a trade off coming somewhere down the line. Obviously this all goes out of the window IT related party rules are removed and IF PIF are willing to open the wallet to allow us to truly compete.
-
I literally can’t imagine a deal as bad at that for us, it’s terrible. Liverpool getting Gordon for a squad player and 30m. I’d rather breach
-
These are really important points; obviously we can only estimate but despite the big loss dropping off from the takeover we still face challenges due to our increased costs (namely wages and amortisation). As the leagues rules have us locked up tight we have to player trade so we should expect someone big to leave in the next 12 month sadly. We are in a very tough place because in order to raise our revenues we need some degree of success (champions league minimally) but in other to get to the champions league we need our investment to be on the same footing as the competition. It’s often repeated but the rules truly are absurd.
-
Story had a whiff of bullshit to be frank, payment terms have no bearing on FFP. The full fee is taken up front regardless of terms.
-
In big joes case most of the fee is already amortised lazy to do the numbers but his new contract might work out to be more expensive ;73 to the salary bump.
-
For the current financial period starting 1/7/24. I won’t make this thread into another FFP chat though
