He’s never stood out to me, when I’ve seen him. Again I don’t think he’s bad but I don’t think he’s elite or has the potential to be so. I’m not sure what hype has to do with it mind, I’m one of the first to say I think Guehi is too expensive for us. I see this one of two ways personally from a FFP squad building composition. 1: your going high for a Guehi type (if not better, your basically dislodging Schar and are willing to pay the premium to do so. 2: your happy with Schar for this season and are looking for a player to come in with high ceiling to learn this season and really compete next season (think Tino, think Hall and think Gordon). This is how I think about it.

Fair enough, yes he will improve from average to good. I want Eddie spending time coaching players from good to excellent though. As mentioned, if I’m holding us to our stated ambitions we need to aim higher than Chelsea’s fourth choice right centre back.

You believe he’s good enough to be our starting centre half with the ambitions we have? Fair play if so.

This is all rumours of which most of them will be absolutely bullshit as you know. and to reiterate my original point, he doesn’t make sense unless your willing to commit to him as your first choice moving forward something which none of our rivals would. I know you rate a lot of players but you have to consider all of the factors when signing players and this would be a very expensive squad player. We are aiming to be competing in the champions league on a regular basis and for me he doesn’t hit the mark.

@KaKayup long list of clubs in the q to sign him.

Any of the sky 6 can pay 60m mind, we are uniquely fucked because our revenue is miles behind them. Im with you though, I do think he’s really expensive, but it’s extra expensive for us given our PSR us and Villa will have continue to have the biggest issues being compliant the others can just make ridiculous allowance, break the rules and not be investigated forever or sell hotels to themselves.
  7. I think given your framing of the question no, you aren’t mad. It’s a tough one right? Life without our mad Brazilian is a life I don’t want and Isak is legit one of the best strikers in the world he’s an absolute monster who is still improving. Gordon would absolutely torture us every time we play against him mind.

We are being opportunistic right, as usual ultimately everyone is stocked at centre half for now and I’m guessing this is what Palace are banking on. In 12 months time the market shifts maybe Liverpool need a CB maybe city do? Again, I don’t think the clause would be 75m I reckon around 60m. the goal of the clause wouldn’t be to keep him against his will, it would be to protect palace from the risk of losing him on the cheap and reward the player with a nice wage bump. Usually such situations arise because a player doesn’t want his club to take a haircut but wants to leave, everything seems to suggest he’s a good lad and a good pro so him doing this kind of thing makes sense to me.

I wouldn’t imagine the clause to be much higher than our current offer, it’s more a deal which protects palace from his contract expiring whilst rewarding Guehi with a higher salary and a guaranteed exit at a set fee. This will work well for all parties particularly once the window closes.

Good compromise for both him and Palace in this scenario.

Because it’s poor squad planning, Chalobah got a new contract 2 years ago; he’s on proper premier league money and given how he would only be a squad player you’d be paying over a 100k a week for what is a back up. Again we have FFP constraints and thus average players on high wages needing fees should be avoided imo.

Will pass on Chalobah like, he’s pretty average and would be a squad player at best.
  13. Obviously we are past needing players of his ability but I’ve got no issues with a player for wanting to enforce contracts mind, clubs also want the same after all.

Time to walk away from this one imo. Schar should be good for another season so we can either defer this signing until next summer or go for a younger more affordable prospect kind who can be back up for Schar for this season ala Tino and Hall.
  15. Nvm big Todd but it’s quite clear under any rules proclaiming to be fair our psr limit would be par what the highest Spencer has spent. The fact is they’ve spent 2.5b more than us and we have no way to bridge the gap is a joke.
  16. Reckon we end up with just Guehi and that’s it for incoming personally.
  17. I haven’t read the piece, but if i were to guess 3 names it would be. Bowen Elanga Madueke.
  18. I find elanga to be unlikely, all the reports were we wanted to include him in the deal with Anderson but forest weren’t having it. Reluctant sellers would certainly inflate the fee.

The fact they haven’t rejected it yet tells me we are closing to an agreement.
  20. Who cares about the two back up keepers though? Totally forgot they existed personally. We are pretty stacked in central midfield with longstaff arguably being the worst, his numbers are obviously greater than Anderson. Minteh is a total unknown at this level if we are being honest with ourselves (I didn’t want to lose him either but here we are). I think given Sven’s injury, Dan burns age and Halls youth Kelly is a great pick up and offers much more utility to the squad. Orsula looks raw but at least it means we don’t have to run Isak into the ground and risk him getting those knocks again.
  21. No chance, wages will be massive.
  22. Not really Tonali who barely featured last season is obviously much better than Anderson from what I saw of Orsula he looked very raw mind We are certainly up on last season imo, despite it being pretty uninspiring as the starting 11 hasn’t been strengthened yet. (Ignoring Louis Hall).
  23. Our window hasn’t really started yet it’s true but we aren’t weaker having lost a 7th choice midfielder and a third choice right winger mind. Im not going to be celebrating keeping our best players either, last time I checked we weren’t Palace and Mike Ashley has long since gone.
  24. Yes and no, one of Chelsea’s biggest upcoming issues will be the massive amortisation they will be carrying into the future having guaranteed incoming in the next financial year will be very beneficial for them. I don’t think such a deal is out of the question based upon our previous deal with them.
  25. Why wouldn’t Chelsea do a loan with an obligation like they did with Hall? They’ve literally shown willingness to do that kind of deal with us already
