So here’s a random question. We get relegated showing a slightly improvement and Rafa becomes available. would you stick with Howe or bring Rafa back?

Hindsight is 20/20 and All but going to a club where your hated from day 1 and have no money to spend was a mistake.

My worry is we see Clark brought in who I’m not a fan of. Hopefully Fede plays who I believe is our best defender (at defending). For left back I’m wondering is it possible Lewis can be worse than Ritchie? Wilock is talented especially with the ball he can dribble and pass but his defensive side is none existent which is why him and Shelvey are bad in a two man midfield. from what I can see Howe is very focused on playing as a unit which is great and we do look more of a team since he took over.

I mean it’s his job to get them organised. We were also a shambles when Rafa took over. Although it’s probably not fair to compare Howe and Rafa. My original point is more a long the lines of we have control of our destiny we have a lot of time and hopefully money to invest. I do believe despite our shortcomings with Investment we should be safe. and not to be critical of Howe but we can’t see midfield twos of Shelvey and Wilock and Krafh has to be consigned to the reserves. If we handicap ourselves with such decisions of course we will go down.

That’s kind of my point though. We had a truly terrible manager who kept this side in the league twice. The same defence which was pretty solid under Rafa no? to clarify here, I’m in full support of Howe and hope he goes on to a great success in case that’s in doubt.

Neesy, your a better poster than this. I can’t stand Bruce and I’m sure your aware of that. And indeed we were fortunate but a better coach who is backed should be able to beat his points tally no? if we don’t invest heavily and or we were truly a drift when Howe took over the conversation would of course be different.

We had Benitez in the championship last time with Mike Ashley being the owner. And I agree, you can’t undo what Bruce has done quickly but at the same time we were comfortably safe last season so investing a lot of money and getting relegated this season would be a unmitigated disaster. and here’s the thing, I hope this doesn’t happen and Howe goes on to be a great success but if the above scenario does happen I suspect many of you will be changing your tune real quick.

IF we invest in January and still end up relegated he needs replacing imo.

I agree Shelvey wasn’t but if your playing with a ASM and a Wilock you probably want two very defensively minded central midfielders. (Which we currently don’t have

That’s the thing, clearly Wilock is very talented but but not as part of a central midfield two. He’s a forward thinking player who has no bravery so pairing him with Shelvey at this level is just poor selection. hopefully Howe learns from this as doesn’t try it again against a side which is much beater than we are and love to overload The Central midfield.

Also arsenal really demonstrate we need to tear up our academy and start again with it. we produce absolutely nothing where as Arsenal have several talented players come through.

Exactly. I wrote in the pre game thread if we persist with these two in central midfield we will be complaining our defence is awful.
