  1. Given where we are, I wouldn’t be either

    Marc Guehi

PSR is showing its teeth now, also who else is in for Guehi at these prices? Ultimately if he won’t extend his contracts our latest offer is very fair.
  3. I think they will be more club sponsors than just for the Sela club, pre season friendly cup not even broadcast won’t bring much value to advertisers.
  4. We didn’t don’t worry. Not a chance we shelled out 45m for a player on a 3.5 year contract, it defies logic.
  5. If you’ve got nought to do how about giving a rough conservative value to each player in the squad (how much you think we could get for them) that way we can have a guess who will be the next FFP mandated sale
  6. Aye the lack of transparency makes it really difficult to calculate these things. As you’ve mentioned as well, it’s not often premier league footballers take pay cuts
  7. This is cracking work rich, thanks for putting it together. It’s important to realise too that the salary adjustments made to Bruno and Joe hit the bottom line, so we may have saved on amortisation but we are paying higher wages which would offset some of these savings.
  8. Front loading is risky, you’re relying on your competitors to keep you compliant essentially which carriers huge risks. Imagine if that Gordon for Gomez deal would have happened, I’d be fuming and I’m sure everyone else would be too. It’s things such as this why I feel we ought to be cautious with who we are buying. Guehi will be a cracking player for us I’ve got no doubts but the fee is going to really hurt us, we simply don’t have the revenue to be splashing out 60m on fees on a consistent basis without a trade off coming somewhere down the line. Obviously this all goes out of the window IT related party rules are removed and IF PIF are willing to open the wallet to allow us to truly compete.
  9. I literally can’t imagine a deal as bad at that for us, it’s terrible. Liverpool getting Gordon for a squad player and 30m. I’d rather breach
  10. These are really important points; obviously we can only estimate but despite the big loss dropping off from the takeover we still face challenges due to our increased costs (namely wages and amortisation). As the leagues rules have us locked up tight we have to player trade so we should expect someone big to leave in the next 12 month sadly. We are in a very tough place because in order to raise our revenues we need some degree of success (champions league minimally) but in other to get to the champions league we need our investment to be on the same footing as the competition. It’s often repeated but the rules truly are absurd.
  11. Story had a whiff of bullshit to be frank, payment terms have no bearing on FFP. The full fee is taken up front regardless of terms.
  12. In big joes case most of the fee is already amortised lazy to do the numbers but his new contract might work out to be more expensive ;73 to the salary bump.
  13. For the current financial period starting 1/7/24. I won’t make this thread into another FFP chat though
  14. It doesn’t help that much as you’re just pushing the cost into the next financial period. If we sign Guehi our net spend will be -100m already.
  15. It doesn’t damage the brand imo, although I do understand the sentiment. Ultimately that also isn’t a reason for not punishing them, but as we learnt during our takeover the league has a massive issue with transparency and ultimately the members toe the line.
  16. I’m also why Chelsea’s self reported breaches haven’t been dealt with yet, what possible reason could the league have for not doing anything?

Yeah they could but generally you wouldn’t want to pay more and would let the player choose at that point as your essentially bidding against yourself

    Marc Guehi

Aye of course they are but for Chelsea it’s a contractual agreement, it protects them from overpaying if they want him back and Palace have to accept so they can’t create a bidding war using Chelsea for example.

It’s a clause they Chelsea have from the sale. If they did choose to match the bid the choice would be with the player. They won’t match the bid regardless so nothing to worry about.
  20. We clearly need full transparency on financial matters if we are to continue with these rules mind. If what he’s saying is true question have to answered by the league as to why it’s one rule for Chelsea and Man United and another for everyone else.

Nothing to suggest Gordon is a top 6 RW mind, I think he’s top class on the left but on the right he’s pretty untested. Miggy and Murphy aren’t players who have the quality to be playing for a top 6 Side mind I really like them both but I wouldn’t want to see them starting. We will have a lot of Cb if we buy Guehi when everyone is fit too, Jamal, Schar, Botman, Burn, Kelly and Guehi granted Burn and Kelly can play fullback. Hopefully we can shift some players and fill both positions.
  22. I think Berges role will be to launch counters no? ETH wants to make the most dangerous transitional team so having someone launch balls from deep might be the idea.

Haven’t read all posts in detail but has anyone actually come out and said he’d be a bad signing? I don’t think so right? I think the concerns well my concerns are the fee is a lot and we have weaknesses in other areas I’d like filled first. I think he will be class personally but question how we will be able to balance the books.
  24. The market has moved on, players who aren’t on an upward trajectory have much less demand now than before. Everyone wants younger players who have some resale value players are much more of an investment nowadays.
  25. It’s extremely quiet on the outgoing players front, it’s kinda jokes we still have Hayden Lewis and Fraser on the books
