  1. Performance only matters to these people once revenue is impacted. Such a league would be a revenue guarantee, the dice roll of finishing in the top would essentially be over.
  2. Indeed. They just want more money. That’s the only thing driving this.
  3. Colo’a letter, never forget.
  4. We didn't earn Championship money when we were in the Championship so no I don't think we would in this situation either. Other clubs would. But I think over time things would change. Fans dwindling from these super league clubs would inevitably mean TV money dwindling in the long term. While the teams left in a genuine competitive domestic league would slowly grow. Long term I agree they'd want to rejoin. Just my opinion but I think the entire idea of a super league is flawed and would fail long term I think over 50% of the tv money is for the overseas deals. I have a strong suspicion this is to watch Man U, Liverpool etc. Imho we would see a massive reduction of money in the English game should the top 6 form a European super league. Sadly we’ve created a league where money is all that counts. Even if they were to leave this wouldn’t change that fact it would just lead to an inferior product. Its about 40% of total TV money. Obviously I agree that kind of reduction in TV money would have a big effect on the English game overall. But even if we assume the entire revenue from overseas TV disappeared (which I'm sure it wouldn't, just a very large reduction) that would still leave NUFC earning £126m, which is more than some Premier League clubs earn now and about twice what a top Championship club gets. Basically what I'm saying is some clubs are more reliant on TV money than others and luckily for NUFC (if you even give a s*** under current ownership) we're one of the least reliant. As shown in our Championship seasons when we still came out with more money than some Premier League clubs at the time. Also should be remembered that, as much as they whine, the top 6 clubs received nearly 40% of total TV rights money last season. On this point, those clubs leaving would also massively devalue the domestic broadcast rights as well. I’m not sure of the numbers but it wouldn’t surprise if those 6 clubs accounted for 30-40% of the total football fanbase of this country. Also, the economic shock of a sudden reduction of income akin to say relegation would create massive solvency issues throughout the remaining clubs. I think, it’s important to remember that football is no longer a sport first, it’s primary function is to generate revenue these days.

  6. Good post, I agree with Decky here. It maybe ok for those who want to see football return to a pre premier league era but Southampton vs West ham being a big game in said hypothetically situation doesn’t exactly get pulses racing.
  7. We have Almiron. Unfortunately we also have a manager who would rather start Carroll and Hendrick ahead of him.

    Jeff Hendrick

We are his level and he is ours. Perfect fit.
  9. Quite possibly, that was my first thought too. Probably an unpopular opinion but I hope he gets it tbh I read it again and to me, it reads as though they are acting solely for Mike and the club. Either way, I agree with you. The premier league have fucked him as much as they have us.
  10. If these have been retained by only Ashley am I correct in thinking it doesn’t necessarily mean the deal is back on? He just wants compensation?
  11. I’m pretty sure the other big boys don’t want any more competition mind. Wouldn’t surprise me if Spurs and Liverpool hinted at a European Super league during all of this.
  12. The PL are not accountable to anyone so they can just stand their ground. Who do they account for? The 20 member clubs.
  13. Fail them on which grounds? The purpose of the test as far as I recall was to ensure the financial stability of the club is paramount. It’s for this reason not passing it is so controversial. The test isn’t a moral one.
  14. If true, it makes perfect sense. PIF by agreeing to do something about piracy are basically admitting to being apart of the Saudi state and thus liable for the piracy issues. Makes it an easy rejection in the premier leagues eyes.
  15. We're actually attacking. On the subject, I find it difficult to infer this puts the deal back on. More Ashley is fuming and wants compensation. I mean I no other industry would you see a business takeover blocked in such ways. Ashley can’t sell his asset because of a third party quasi regulator
  16. Bruce’s Brexit boys in full swing.
  17. I don’t see anything wrong with a frank conversation personally.
  18. Ashley is just trying to work out what is the absolute minimum he can spend to run the club. Big thank you to Richard masters and the premier league for guaranteeing the club remains the most pathetic of institutions.
  19. We have Bruce and Ashley. I’m surprised anyone is bothered much about any comings of goings.
