Didn’t your academy win the youth cup last year?
-
Ashworth was a logical appointment for us at the time given how hollowed out we were, we needed someone to put structures into place which hadn’t existed for years if ever. Man United already have those in place and seem to struggle in the market so it’s an odd appointment for them imo.
-
Credited with identifying players like Son, Mane gave opportunities to some of Monaco’s talents like Benoit Badshialle and the lad who Madrid signed from Monaco. so elite talent id coupled with experience of both England and Europe really ticks every box for us.
-
You’re 100% right, we have to trade because we can’t bridge the financial gap overnight, FFP is so restrictive. This appointment certainly feels indicative of that as he has a canny record and is known to be quite ruthless. I hope Eddie is fully onboard with this and the club have broke him in detail about how we have to operate.
-
Without a doubt. The whole financial hole thing is odd as they would have known the issue for a year prior.
-
That was always such a bizarre take.
-
He was discussed at the start of the process on here, I think some of us were surprised we were not seemingly more interested when all the reports were leading to Dougie and Spors.
-
Really exited about this!
-
He was yes. He did always seem like a good fit on paper, let’s hope he stays longer than dirty Dan did.
-
Thrilled with that, didn’t he used to work at Chelsea? Hint hint. Turns out he didn’t.
-
No but if we scratch forest back for 5m why would they scratch ours for 30m? It doesn’t make sense.
-
Then why did they buy him? Sure we can offer the keeper at 5m but it’s still 30m they value at if we say the keeper is worthless
-
We can ignore @Froggyand anyone else on this, Forest thought he was worth it hence they paid. It’s not like it was a straight swap, they paid a significant amount for a player they obviously rate at 35m.
-
Aye absolutely staggering levels of over reach if they attempt that. They are already straddling a line. the way the league has gone is quite depressing to be honest, Scudamore would always build consensus but these clowns just do what they please as long as they 14 on board they plough on.
-
Maybe, maybe not but there’s potential for you, it’s extremely difficult to value.
-
Absolutely if you think about what we paid for Gordon at that time as well, his goal and assist record was poor at that point too. If Anderson were to go and have a season like Gordon just did we would be screaming murder and Forest would be talking about the bargain they got. All transfers involving younger players come with a large degree of uncertainty.

Ah true, but not really relevant as I don’t think Italy has such stupid rules as us. The original point was why don’t we do it with Sela. To which I stated we probably can’t as it would likely fail FMV test as it doesn’t make commercial sense (unless it’s a provision in the current contract).

He’s a politician, I was surprised when he spoke to scathingly by his standards about these deals. When it comes to his actual opinions they veer between just blind backing of the current order of things and hardcore club hoop licking. Don’t get me wrong he’s obviously the absolute gold standard when it comes to transfer news but it’s obvious where his loyalty is. And yeah, don’t worry about any of these deals absolutely nothing is going to happen, the most they can do is find a way to close this moving forwards but it won’t be easy to do so.
-
Ornstein was speaking with this north London hat on. As I’ve stated several times the premier league would find itself in a very deep crisis if it attempted to block these deals, they simply don’t have any form of robust rules to stop them. We the deal for Anderson has been completed and announce we can infer from that they have ratified it. It’s important to remember that the league has already over reached on an unprecedented scale already which has led to Man city’s legal action, they would need remarkably temerity to consider blocking a UK business from disposing an asset to another uk business. TLDR. The media noise about these deals is just that, noise if they want to attempt to stop them they will require a new rule to do so and they are already flying close the wind.

Neither of those are related parties
-
No such test exists as it wasn’t a related party transfer.
-
They’ve completely lost the plot.

With Eddie in charge I believe so yes. We also don’t really have to, they go on loan and develop and we then decide how to proceed.
