You agree with the bits about Ashley 'getting his money back' and the hitherto-unknown 'hidden debt'? I agree we are tied into a loveless marriage of sorts until he recovers the money he paid to buy the club and keep it afloat... I agree that once he's done that his intentions could be to use us as a cash/advertising cow for himself and SD... I contend that he long since recovered the monies he paid to buy the club and its inherent debt. I contend that he has for some time already been using the club as a cash cow and showcase for his scummy brands. Look at this years shirts for God's sake - the cheapest, nastiest selections from the Puma option book (stick on crest - embarrassing don't cover it) -and the largest margin for Fatty. I'd also be keen to learn your thoughts on this mysterious 'hidden debt' What is it? How much is it? Where did it come from? What measurements are in place to pay it back? (TV money from last season? Net, we've spent next to nothing this close season. I contend that you're defending the indefensible.

"We have an owner who was mugged by Hall and Shepherd who now wants his money back. He's going to keep a tight rein on transfers and wages until he recovers the hidden debt" Beautiful in its sweeping ignorance.

Dunno like. Ashley will know just as well as the rest of us how utterly gash Pardew is as a manager, and a man. This talk of CL and top six, etc. is just to try and sell tickets. There is no target other than Prem survival. 17th would be a successful season as far as Ashley is concerned. I think even Pardew can manage that with the squad we have, and as such, his job is safe.

I think he's got one or two games' grace. Cardiff was the tipping point for many thousands of people - a game that the team walked...

That account is the biggest pile of shite going.

A group of us had a chat after the game in the pub and pretty much agreed we'd not see him again. I thought this was the majority view that this was his swansong?

Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition

So, Russia 2018 and then off to Qatar. FIFA sure can pick 'em. -
Fuck Ryder. Biffa knew them personally.

Apparently Ashley was royally p*ssed off when Kinnear didnt sign any players in two transfer windows and sold Cabaye at a reduced price. So I imagine hes quite happy with the work Charnley is doing. I suppose as long as Charnley is actually spending money we don't recoup then it may be fine. 6 players for the money received on Cabaye and Debuchy deals essentially. Wonder if we plan on spending that 60 odd million TV money we have. Of course not. That's Ashley's take for a fantastic season past.

Tell that to Paul Ince.

Foot will definately be off the gas imo... "well we were looking for a couple more but we think we have a good enough squad to see us through to January. This club wont be held for ransom and the market was hard due to the world cup." No doubt we need an established striker though on top of Riviere. We also need a replacement for Mapou if he is off, likewise Hatem. Hilarious thing is we won't have even spent the cabaye and debuchy money if that doesn't happen never mind the 2 lots of TV money. Only not so funny for those paying for the privilege of having to 'assume the position'.

If we have a poor showing even in just the first game, I really think people will flip. we will have a poor showing considering who we're playing lets face it, but he'll get a pass imo for probably 3-5 home games and then it'll turn if there's a bad defeat again I reckon he'll get if from game one - carrying on where we left off v. Cardiff. No way, especially how poor our squad is likely to be by that time, the troops will give him a pass for a while at least until the window slams shut. OK, I'll recant slightly and say that he'll get a pass until we concede, at best. If we're still playing eye-bleeding football - which we will be - I reckon he'll get about 45 minutes' grace tops. We've not long to wait to find out though. I'll eat an imaginary hat if it turns so soon My point is, it hasn't really turned back at all. If anything, things continue to deteriorate (w*nga was bad enough before it was confirmed they were a criminal organisation, the purposely inept transfer dealings, etc.) so no reason to suggest the support won't continue as before... Sincerely hope you're right I'll be doing my part. I'll get you fitted for that imaginary hat. What size do you take, sir? 7 - 7⅛?

Don't get too excited. I've seen him play about 30-odd times and, while he's a tidy player, he's no world beater. He's worth what we paid for him (c.£3.75m), I reckon. Very, very hard to say what he'll do in the EPL. When I was living in the Netherlands in 2012 for a year, I saw his brother a number of times also, and he looked the far superior player!

We paid the equivalent of about £3.75m for De Jong. Source: senior reporter who covers Ajax for De Telegraaf

It was Zaha, 100%. Source was the head of press at CPFC, whom I know quite well.
