He hardly said that. He said he should be gambling? I'd rather a forward gamble than think ah f*** it I'm to small to go for that cross..... But surely, the tactics should not be let's see if Almiron can get on the end of a cross No they're probably not, but is there any difference in the goal Sterling scored being similar height and build to Almiron, and Shearer highlighted that Both Aguero and Sterling both know to move when they see De Bruyn cross, they had seconds on spurs defenders because they gambled. Just a guess but I would reckon the net spend since Man City's owners took over would be a big difference. Which is what i was trying to say, City's "crosses" are more like passes across the box, ours are a hopefull punt in from deep, and expecting a 5 foot 7 player who isn't good in the air to "gamble" is f***ing ridiculous tbh. I don't think Al will make a manager You might as well say stick Almiron on the half way line every time we have a corner if he's no chance of scoring from aerial balls. Like I said anything can happen in the box. Fucking ridiculous man

I can see what you are saying. But i'd say there is, City pretty much always build attacks so they are overloading the oppositions defence, most of Sterlings goals from "crosses" are tap ins at the back post from low driven crosses, not aerial ones, that was a one off. The one Shearer highlighted with us was Ritchie putting a hopefull cross in from deep with next to no chance of Almiron getting there, it was hardly a structured attack. Its not what I'm saying, but im saying I can see Shearers point. He'd expect players to gamble, anything could have happened in the box where possible it did fall to feet? I mean rewind to the earlier cross and miss from Krafth, the ball goes over everyone and lands with the full back who's got forward (gambled) a bit of composure from him and that was one nil, but he gave himself no time at all. By the way, none of this is in defence of Bruce, I'm just saying Shearer highlighting players should be gambling particularly forwards, is not really looking out for his pal Bruce. I reckon he would say that of any player in any side not being hungry when the balls coming into the box, you know what he's like, he's obsessed when he thinks of a player not hungry for a goal, it's all he knows, the reason he loves the Harry Kanes of this world, desire to get in the box and sniff around for anything.

Shearer can fuck off with that - let’s blame the foreign lad who was actually quite good under a proper manager He's right to point it out though. It was the same last week a huge gap from the midfield and forwards, absolutely no possibility to create anything when nobody moves or keeps within a good distance to support. But, in fairness we can see it, Shearer can see it, Bruce obviously cant because he allowed it to happen again. My opinion is he should drop the formation, and stop trying to adopt what the players were doing under Rafa, because Bruce isnt Rafa or as meticulous as the man. Personally I'd go 433 and give Joelinton some support either side with ASM and Almiron. And drop Ritchie playing as a fullback, (Willems) or as ugly as it sounds I'd put Dummett back there. I'd do something like this:

Loved how Norwich used their full backs, it was a lot like how Liverpool and City use theirs, they both terrorised our full backs and pushed us right back with players running backward towards goal panicked. Something we don't have.
-
Most of them aren't shit though. A decent manager will show that. Steve Bruce showed with his 'what the fuck is happening' outburst that he is absolutely clueless. I said a while back that it won't take long for people to start claiming the players are shit, especially our defence. I Dunno, we kind of have to say most aren't shit as an excuse. Ritchie's done though, there comes a time Rafa or not where you have to accept how you cant keep making excuses for some of them. If we had lost today 3-1 with Rafa, I'd still be of the thinking I'd sooner or later want to see the back of Ritchie, Dummett, and 1 or 2 others, but it's the nature of the beast. Year in year out we dont improve the squad in the right areas.

They’re not shit, average, yes. See them under Benitez, R. There’s just an absolute absence of anything resembling tactics and motivation now Theres a few. Ritchie is finished for me. Its just he's a teachers pet type, so we are now accommodating any way we can fit him into the team. It doesn't really matter though because everyone will look much much worse soon enough when they down tools and start pretending Bruce is motivating them.

Lots of players exposed for just how shit they are today. I'm not even upset. Its actually funny. #The Boycotts are pointless!

Was his loan a dodgy deal to avoid paying legal fees and compensation over the Bruce contract saga? A Wednesday fan I know claims he's there on loan with no fees paid.?

Not really, how the f*** can you be so open at the back there at 0-0, that's tactics, or lack of. Because Shar switched of, stayed where he was while the ball played across field to Willems was as weak as the rest of the piss poor lame passing, this easily read by Maitland-Niles leaving the whole back four open. He's bang on about school boy. Schar and the pass were awful, Williams was caught not coming to the pass, but I guess he would have expected more given the wet pitch in terms of zip. There were no excuses for the passing today, it was abysmal. Bruce aside. Willems could see that the pass was under hit, he half started to go to ball then stopped. He spent the next 5 minutes berating himself. We could just have easily won that game than lost, there’s folk on here celebrating and looking for things to criticise. There were plenty of empty seats, the crowd got behind the team, most got absolutely drenched and we lost not because of tactics. Joelinton looks a prospect, Almiron was fairly poor, ASM needs to be aware of his team mates and as a team we need to shorten the gap between the midfield and attack. Arsenal started very deep today and we pressed up to their 18 yard line, we became tired in the 2nd half and that created a big gap between our front line up to around the half way line . We’ll improve from here. Your summery here is exactly how I saw most of it. In regards to Willems you're right he did question weather to go or not there was a moment, but Niles was quicker in his thougt process. The pass was still under hit and awful, the back four being left for dead was because Schar stopped and was thinking he was in a safe place, far from it he was where Manquilo should have been. They got caught and like you said first of all it was school boy. Agree on Joelinton, Agree on Almiron, although Miggy started well, then it was like his yellow had some effect on him? ASM should have started for me vs that Arsenal back four, And the midfield and attack you mention, I noticed and raised in the match day thread in here. Spot on.

As a wide midfielder I can just about handle it, as a fullback he can get ran over tonight.

Ludwig Francilette signs for NUFC/didn’t cut mustard at Dijon

Finally signed Douglas -
After being away on holiday and finally catching up on the highlights from the friendlies, this lad needs to work on his finishing quite a bit, he had some great chances and some really easy goals had he been more clinical. I'm not having a dig at him but with a bit of work and when the real test starts in the league we will need him to take the sort of chances he missed. On the plus side Shelvey just kept putting the ball on the ground and putting him through with ease, so hopefully their understanding and a bit of work on Miggys finishing the pair will create plenty of chances.

Yes but, we signed Mitro,Mbemba,Wijnaldum,Thuavin, under McClaren and at the time I would have considered them better than what we have signed. It was a disastrous season. Bruce is probably as shite as McClaren in terms of each managers records.
-
These were all players we were linked with 12 months ago, so Rafa would have refused them because he wanted his own signings, all of the sudden Rafas gone and Charnley's having secret conversations with Carr probably about who we can sign that will turn s profit, This is Steve McClaren Mk2. Bruce is just getting a load of players signed and told to get on with it. We all know how it ended with McClaren, I can see it all over again.

Brucey paid him, so it reflects well on him.
