  1. I'm not saying they didn't have an influence, I accept that they had a slight influence. However, they did not "change the course of history" as people (including the Chron) are suggesting We hired fucking Carver, McClaren and bought fucking idiots like Doumbia on dodgy deals before Rafa was appointed and the course of our history was changed. Lee Charnley didn't sit at work all those months ago thinking "oooh I better sack Schteve and bring Rafa in because of those angry SackPardew people" - he bought Rafa in because we were desperate to stay up at all costs and Ashley was willing to pay anything to achieve it. Rafa stayed because of the absolute class support he received, which the club realised.
  2. It'd have been a factor in his decision. But moving back home on a higher wage to a club he was lauded as a hero at was probably more the deciding factor like. Do you he would of left if we were singing "Super, Super Al" every week? Quite possibly, yes. If you managed Crystal Palace and were well liked but were offered the Newcastle job on a higher wage, would you stay at Palace?
  3. It'd have been a factor in his decision. But moving back home on a higher wage to a club he was lauded as a hero at was probably more the deciding factor like.
  4. He'll not get another PL job, not a chance. His pride wouldn't let him take a lower league job either, I wouldn't be totally surprised if he stops managing and turns into a pundit (which would be totally horrific).
  5. Whilst I completely agreed with everything SackPardew stood for, why does it seem like people believe they got Pardew sacked? Yes they pulled him up on all of his total bullshit etc. But he wasn't sacked. He was paid for by Crystal Palace in a time where we were on one of his semi-average runs and he wasn't in total danger of being sacked. The Chronicle article "they ultimately helped change the course of the club’s history", how? We had another two shit managers, a lot of fucking around by the board, a relegation and a packed to the rafters and very loud SJP before the club really realised what mattered and what they needed to do. SackPardew was excellent like, but lets not change history.
  6. Correct decision. Now we can move on and concentrate on the games ahead with the players that we have available. The hyperbole with some people expecting us to completely collapse without Shelvey is mental. He's a great player, but we also have loads of other great players too. Our third choice centre mid would get into most teams in this league ffs.
  7. FA wont overturn it on appeal, no point bothering trying. Accept the ban and move on. Only Shelvey will know what he said.
  8. Wasn't there a season where nearly every Monday night game was dull as fuck? This season seems to be doing the same.
  9. This game is absolutely terrible. Needs Mike Dean to give a penalty for some touching in the box.
  10. That'd be f***ing horrible if it happens. Partly because I have the current crest tattooed on my chest like from when I was 17 and thought I was a wrong'un. Also because I'm yet to see any other club bring out a better crest to the one they had before. Ours is mint, leave it alone. What next? knocking down SJP and moving into a modern lego stadium on an indistrial estate near Blyth?
  11. What about Tiote? I don't want it to happen, obviously, but he is another option.
  12. We struggle against teams who put every man and his dog behind the ball, we need to find a way around that. Not that I think Sheff Wed will do that, I think they'll come looking to play football which will only benefit us.
  13. Aye that was after reading tube's comment, not sure why I roped you into it tbh, he just irritated is Sorry. It's a daft argument anyway really, only the course of the season will evidence who is the better side and individuals being better than each other is pretty irrelevant. We'll have to wait and see.
  14. Whacking a poppy on a shirt or on a card is not supporting a charity imo. It's not like this is an unknown/relatively small charity that the FA are giving coverage to. If the FA cared that much they could have donated a large sum of money to the Poppy Appeal as their "gesture".
  15. How have you come to the conclusion that Stockdale is a better keeper than Darlow? Dunk would have been a good signing for us in the summer, but would he displace either Lascelles or Clark now? On this seasons form, they're as good if not better than him. Are Stephens or Kayal a better player than Hayden? No. Knockaert I would have in our team, definitely. I'd probably take Bong too but Dummett has vastly improved since the start of the season and is performing very well. Some massive overreactions on here to the standard of quality in this league. Other than a 10 minute spell at the start of the 2nd half against Brighton (when it was 1-0), we comfortably beat them at home. Rather than getting your knickers in a twist and resorting to childish name-calling, have an adult conversation and back up your points.
  16. Fifa tell clubs not to do something, they go and do it anyway. Fifa fine them. Nowt wrong with that at all.
  17. Brighton have a stronger starting 11 than us? Get away man. There are players on our bench who would walk straight into their starting 11.
  18. Pep regarding Man City fans: "Normally they leave 10 or 15 minutes before the end but today they stayed."
  19. This is the sort of game that we'd have lost under previous managers. Good efficient win.
  20. Not a chance do Brighton beat us to the title like. They've got more chance of being caught by the chasing pack then winning the league.
