  1. No idea where/when everyone decided that Januzaj is a good/great player. He had a few decent games under Moyes in a team massively under peforming. He also had a lot of games where he was awful and contributed nothing. He is not rated at all by van Gaal, which is evidenced in his attempts to never play him. If he was as good as people think, bigger clubs would be interested. M'Vila is decent when he can be arsed, he is a typical 'money man' player and will follow whoever offers the best package for him rather than the standard of football (ie, Russia). Love it when clubs fail medicals due to the potential of injury... I mean, Demba Ba failed at Stoke but has been fit longer than a majority of players. Someone else will snap up Fer and he'll score a hattrick against Sunderland.
  2. If we let him go and didnt replace him everyone would murder that decision... The new contact tells me one thing, that he will partner Mbemba at CB. The fact that Taylor appears to be favoured by Steve tells me that he is third choice. In turn, this makes Williamson fourth (or maybe even further back) choice. Happy days. We have a surpless of useless/average defenders, we wont buy any until they are moved on. Keeping Colo for one more year is hardly a negative.
  3. Not a fan of Fer at all to be honest - M'Vila may be decent though mind, although I've not watched a lot of him.
  4. I personally think he could do a very good job for us, he looks to be able to create something out of nothing, play anywhere in the final third and cause a few problems. The issue is the fact that we seem to have to accommodate Colback in the side - I don't dislike Colback as much as others on here, but I definitely think we could use his space in the team for a better player.
  5. Remy looks like he genuinely cant be arsed today and this game has interrupted his sunday lunch plans.
  6. Keeper should have got something on that imo
  7. Would rather Saido over Austin, as Saido is a player who can turn nothing into something whereas Austin is a poacher and needs it putting on a plate for him with decent delivery (very similar to Cisse imo). That being said, I'd rather buy no strikers and just put any remaining transfer funds into defenders.
  8. I think all in all it is nothing other than positive having issues choosing the midfield/strikers in our team - as it shows that we have decent strength and depth for a change. Last season the team pretty much picked itself week in week out. Sort the defence out and I think we could have a really decent season.
  9. Must admit, I really dislike Leicester - so I found this hilarious
  10. We need:- LB CB Winger Depending on whether Colo/Cisse leave, add in a replacement for them also. In an ideal world () I'd get Shaqiri, Matip & *insert LB name here* in.
  11. Man City are currently 4-0 down to Stuttgart... That must mean that they are going to get relegated, play awful football and have Obertan starting every week
  12. Good idea, then wait for the end of the transfer window and after that wait for the January window and then we've got next season to look forward to, rinse and repeat. What are you talking about? I don't think it is a ridiculous statement to wait until we start playing competitive football to write off the entire season. The season we finished 5th, we had an atrocious pre-season. The season we won the Championship, we got hammered by Leyton Orient.
  13. Lets just sit and cry all day and night and boo everyone who walks into the club from now on, because nothing is ever going to get better, we're always doomed before we've kicked a ball in anger and Obertan is playing a friendly!!! Or lets do something daft and wait for the season to start before we start being dramatic.
  14. I've found a dodgy stream for it I think... Not sure what the quality of it will be mind, or even if it is our game as its showing TV ads atm. EDIT - yes, I've found it
  15. What is your ideal line-up for Southampton? Todays team only has three players that I wouldn't play against Southampton (Williamson, Obertan & Anita), hardly changing half the team... And the players I'd bring in to replace them are either not fully fit or played a full game or nearly a full game in the week!
  16. What are you expecting? A full strength line-up with the risk of injuries to win a pre-season game 1-0? I think you need to take a deep breath and wait to see the line-up next week (even still, I doubt Mbemba will be fit enough to start next week). I'm not even gonna bother replying to this Excellent contribution, you just did reply to write that mind, but okay... I'm sure our entire season will fail now, because we've left 4 players out of a pre-season starting line-up.
  17. What are you expecting? A full strength line-up with the risk of injuries to win a pre-season game 1-0? I think you need to take a deep breath and wait to see the line-up next week (even still, I doubt Mbemba will be fit enough to start next week).
  18. Except that it's our last friendly! Pre-season games these days are all about strengthening relationships with clubs and commercial deals (hence all Premier League clubs going away to USA, Far East, Aus) I couldn't give a toss if we played with 11 Williamsons all pre-season as long as we have a decent season. A majority of the work would be done on the training ground.
  19. Mbemba hasn't even trained for us, nobody could expect him to start - he'll get 30 minutes or so. De Jong played at York on Tuesday, so he'll come on for 45 minutes or so to keep his fitness up. Mitrovic is still getting his fitness up and also played on Tuesday. It's a pre-season friendly. Don't make a judgement until you see the line up a week tomorrow. We'd all moan if Mbemba, De Jong, Mitrovic, Perez, Aarons all played and went off injured.
  20. Almost forgot about Jak "crisp wrapper wrists" Alnwick Surprisingly, after a Google search - he is a free agent.
  21. Seems a real decent lad and his football at times is excellent. By far my favourite NUFC player at present.
  22. *snigger* "I'm particularly proud of his form last season and his vast improvements with his kicking ability"
