  1. http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/10541208/duffys-three-own-goals-in-a-week Anyone interested in seeing the last 3 Duffy own goals can do so here. Its not even like they're bad deflections or anything three of the worst own goals I've ever seen
  2. My god! He's got a shattrick. been a dark day in irish sport like
  3. .. same guy as well on Gayle "he was never really involved, yes I know he scored two goals and its the strikers responsibility to score goals but apart from that he was anonymous"
  4. whatever his name is commentator on radio newcaslte's summary of Clarke: "he can dive in on things"
  5. Is it good enough to be number 9 though? I reckon Shearer would have at least 5 by now
  6. He scored away at palace and the final score in that game was only 2-0. Not sure whether it was the first or second goal
  7. we can blame tactics all we want I think what we've learnt so far is that without Colo, Sissoko, Wiji and Townsend we have a very average team. I think even Rafa may have been a little suprised with some of them but combine an average team with a large amount of expectation and teams that will see us as one of the teams to beat and we're in quite a dodgy situation. We haven't bought enough quality in. Gayle is decent but he's never scored more than 10 goals in a league season. Without quality in other areas we need a target man up front and without mitrovic we don't have that. The team needs time to gel and performances will improve, but we've been trying to build a squad ignoring the fact that our starting XI are not good enough to win this league. We need a goalscorer and a winger and our defense needs to improve. We can blame Anita, Colback, Dummett etc... all we want they are not the problem, the problem is that there are no players in our squad who look like they will stand out in this division.
  8. Same. They've bought a decent winger from charlton as well so I've thrown him in. Hopefully he'll do a Mahrez
  9. This!! Aarons was poor when he came on. Everyone was poor against Fulham. Stick with Aarons and start him as we need one player who can run at players. If Sissoko is not going to stay then I'd rather he didn't play as we need to start building a team for the season based on what we will have available. put him on the bench encase we are struggling maybe but I'd like the starting players to be ones who will be here for the season.
  10. We have just lost to one of the worst teams in the division like. Who've sold there best 2 players. And its going to be a long season. We can't keep jumping on every manager after they lose a game.
  11. people have got to stop falling off their fucking horses man it was a poor performance but its one game. The Championship is a long season and starting slowly would not be unexpected given how many changes we've had to the team, we need to figure out what our best 11 is.
  12. The issue was playing 442 with only one winger in the team, no crate midfielders and two small unphysical strikers. We resorted to playing long balls as we didn't have any real attacking threat and gayle/ Perez are never going to win any of them. We need to play a lot better than that if we are going to get promoted. We didn't seem to play like we thought we were the favourites. Not a disaster but 442 with those players won't work
  13. This has to be the deepest we've been at CB in some time. Lascelles, Mbemba, Hanley, Clark, Dummett + some other c*** I'm probably forgetting. Hayden can play there as well
  14. I really just think its a case of get a 4th centre back in, which happens to weaken one of our rivals. Having a 4th choice CB with 6 years PL experience is useful even if he's been poor in the top league. Given the other issues villa have at the back even if he's not that great, i reckon they must be pretty pissed to lose him to us.
  15. Hull 0-2 Leicester Burnley 2-0 Swansea Crystal Palace 1-0 West Brom Everton 2-2 Spurs Middlesbrough 1-1 Stoke Southampton 1-1 Watford Man City 4-0 Sunderland Bournemouth 2-2 Man Utd Arsenal 3-1 Liverpool Chelsea 1-1 West Ham
  16. What's Angela Eagle doing with him?
  17. from reading the villa thread it seems that he's shite, but less shite than some of their other defenders so if we can sign a 4th choice CB and weaken one of our supposed rivals for next season I guess its good business.
  18. shit name. Plus I met someone from Grimsby once and she said it was a shit hole.
  19. I think what yesterday proved is that Bale should not be up front. Pity we don't have a single striker who can hit a barn door with a beach ball though. Ultimately I think the lack of even an average striker will be what costs us. So many times against Russia I was watching Vokes willing him to make any run into the several spaces that were between the Russian defenders and nothing. It was like watching a coordinated Ameobi.
  20. To be honest I don't mind 24 teams. It gives some of the smaller home nations a chance to compete and I think that will be good for British footie in general. 32 is too many. It could be fairer I know but at the end of the day, each side of the draw has 3 group winners in it so as long as you win your group these are your competition, and the lesser teams get more of a chance of playing in the knockout stages, so really I don't think anyone is terribly disadvantaged by it. Even with 16 teams there are always some groups that are stronger than others. I'd rather play the winner of group F than Belgium. Also in some ways the fact that a team can end up on either side of the knockout stage makes it a little more interesting.
  21. oh and what a great result . Genuinely the last two Wales matches are the best games I remember watching at the Euros for ages.
  22. Russia were poor, but a big part of that was that you simply cannot go and attack like they did with Bale, Ramsey and Allen playing like they did. Every time Wales had the ball they looked like scoring. Wales could be a very dangerous team if they keep playing like that. Most teams in the last 16, and certainly those in the last 8, will be attacking them. If they can show counter attacking football like that then they've got a great chance of going far. I don't think there is a national team here with the exception of Belgium (and France on paper, but France are always good on paper) who are better than they were 4 years ago.
