  1. I'm not his greatest fan and have never thought he should be club captain. However, although most people have noticed poor form recently it is easy for this recent 'frustration' to bias a fair take on his season. I can't recall how many, but I do recall 'man if the match' performances. He's scored 3 goals (same as Diame). Whoscored.com show him as having the sixth highest player ratings in our squad (above Gayle... But below Clark and, interestingly, Mbemba). Dummett comes in at no.9, btw. Colback is top.... not really; but he is 17th. https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/23/Show/England-Newcastle-United
  2. I think he wants to stay in Spain, Boro were after him but he decided to stay in Spain despite them offering better terms. Alright, didn't know this He can stay and eat his Paella then. Sounds ideal. 'Wiki research' "Jesé is able to play across the front line, operating either as an attacking midfielder, second striker or centre-forward, or in his favoured position out on the wing. During his time at the Castilla, Jesé was often deployed in a false 9 role in the team's 4–3–3 formation, and regularly switched flanks due to his ability to use both feet. In 2013, in his role as the club's sporting director at the time, Zinedine Zidane declared himself an admirer of Jesé's direct style of football and goal scoring ability. Following Jesé's promotion to Real Madrid's first team in 2013, manager Carlo Ancelotti played him in a winger position, often cutting inside from the wing both with the ball and without, to create chances and score goals." Joins Coco at the top of my Christmas list, if we actually get this thing done. P.s. Maybe he can ask Rafa where he likes to dine... .
  3. I'd be satisfied with avoiding any flirtation with relegation. I am kind of hoping for some better football, well to be fair more regular decent football to watch. Is entirely down to who we can attract, I think. We are clearly crying out for more quality; the demonstration of this is, I guess, one of the few positives to take from our implosion over the last few games.
  4. Unbeliev-a-bubble. If you think we're not getting promoted because of what happened today, you want to take your head for a shit; over dramatic wank splashes. If you think having a thread with this title ( and the caveat in the description) make the slightest difference to the outcome then look up treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder; your life doesn't need to be as blighted by irrational superstitious thoughts.
  5. Are you going to the Barnsley match? We prob don't live far apart if you are and fancy a lift.

Totally agree (re FSA also).Townsend and Ritchie alternating flanks; would have been awesome to see. Any chance it'll still on for next season, I wonder?.
  7. Fingers crossed for you and yours leffe

I understand that both Citroen and BMW are looking to continue their football sponsorship, but their current deals run out this season (former Arsenal, not main shirt sponsor; latter Eintracht Frankfurt). Imagine BMW on that lush new design. Would be like getting an M&S on your local high street.
  9. Rises from the dead on Monday, so aye, in with a shout I'd say. He rises from the dead on Sunday not Monday Nah he doesn't it's actually all made up Careful, you may get a JC 'fatwad' placed on you (John Carver, that is).
  10. Full six verses required. Teach the folk their heritage. [edit: there's seven! ]
  11. We went up in third place when Keegan finished his playing career with us. 1992 er I wish!
  12. We went up in third place when Keegan finished his playing career with us. ok, remember that one. Recall who we played last home game?? Brighton! (Keegan, Beardsley and Waddle the scorers in a 3-1 win)
  13. That's not a bad shout. Big brand who sell to the general public with ties to the local area.... Greggs then? Nee chance. Seen how many shops they have in Sun'lun'? I've heard that Makem pastie addiction may have been main reason for strategically removing '...of Gosforth' from their name.
  14. Might be pointing out an ominous chemically-infused cloud heading their way... ("We've two more minutes lads, then head for the bunker!")
  15. We should celebrate finishing runners up and we have done in the past with a much better team than we currently have, we should celebrate it but we shouldn't be given a trophy. When do you mean Mick? I can't recall a 2nd place finish. (Unless you mean in the Prem?).
  16. Optimistic seagull, rather than nut, if you think they will win their last four: making eight wins in a row? Of course it s possible, but don't see it. Without any of their big guns missing (from memory) they lost three of their previous five games, prior to their four game winning streak.
  17. Fuck that shit like. I'll celebrate our promotion but a tinpot first-losers-looking cup. Embarrassing.
  18. Literally and figuratively a very punchable face. Solid knee-buckling impact, little chance of bruised knuckles thanks to those chollers.
  19. Ebb and flow Danh1, normal ebb and flow. Brighton got six points from their five games prior to their recent four wins in a row. We have eight from our last five games, prior to (my imaginary) four in a row barnstorming finish.
  20. Hope Hughton gets it, to go with his promotion in second place. Yeah, second place, that'll happen. Well I am hoping they do, obviously. But it is not such a stretch of the imagination. Basically if we do what Brighton have done over the last four games, I.e. win them, and they do what we have done over the last four games (win two, lose one, and draw one) then we win the Championship.
  21. Hope Hughton gets it, to go with his promotion in second place.
