I'm doing a 'likely lads' tonight, working 'til yon time, tinterweb, TV and radio banished (may draw curtains). Recording the match to enjoy in the wee hours. Howay the (likely) Lads! -
Newcastle United promoted back to the Premier League

Don't mean to be critical, Temuri but I am sure Rafa could do a more inspiring job than that... -
What about Ershengten? Pure Geordie. As is Never Land.

I have done my hardest thinking and I have narrowed it down to two options. Does the answer involve a DeLorean or The Tardis? -
His goals were the perfect response to attempts to kick off the park... but for me the shirt thing had a delicious fuck-your-ed-ness about it. Icing on the cake.

Think it is safe to say Rafa's goal would have been first. Get the sense that whatever narrative comes out, it will burn not being the best.

Find myself hoping that Fulham miss out on promotion, to improve our poaching chances. I am also thinking Mooy (on loan at Hudddersfiled from Man City) might be an option??

Marcelino vs... vs.... Errrmm... Scrub that. Memory fails, but there possibly was one, tbf. Or half a one

It could be a good night, Yorkie. A very good night. Or it could be s***. Lets hope not though. Are you sure you're hoping 'not' Crumpy? It might fry your brains/lead to internal combustion if you have to post something positively chirpy Just kidding, btw, I am well aware that however bright the light, darkness can always be found to bemoan. -
So you're suggesting that you should be able to just pass to yourself from the penalty? Because players would try this? Sod having a shot, think I'll play KINGO with the post and tap in the rebound?? Why would you play it off the post if you could just tap it 5 yards forward and then take the net off when you decide to shoot? Reductio ad absurdum, is the term I think. Surely someone could come-up with a form of words that meant the penalty taker had to make a meaningful attempt on goal, but after that the ball is in play (if indeed it is)? We're not talking hockey one on ones between keeper and attacking player. I totally agree with Liamx, it seems stupid to be able to follow-up if a ball rebounds off a keeper, but not if it comes off a post/bar.

No. Wasn't in London. It was up against the bar, in a Bigg Market pub... Oh, that's not what you meant

That's absolute rubbish that mind, there was some outstanding contests between those two sides with excellent football on show. And there were a fair few bad tempered cancelling each other out ones (mainly down to Mourinho's tactics tbf). But as you say, obviously that's rubbish. The infamous finger-on-eye game was for example one of the most exciting ones. But people will always only remember the fingering. Yep, often the way it works. Reminds me of a lass from Elswick I 'encountered' at last orders in The City Vaults ...

Rooney to us = Owen to us.

thanks. That's reassuring having just re-watched Shearer and Fenton link-up to hammer another nail in our 1996 aspirations. Apparently the latter had a few NUFC-supporting friends down staying at his place on the eve of the Blackburn match. Hope they gave him plenty afterwards!

Apols, if I've missed it but can he play against us?

Cheers, but same query applies really. Beyond family allegiances, what would make you support Sunderland if you're from Tyneside? My curiosity uncovered this from Shields Gazette in 2015: "... a new geographical locator of Premier League clubs’ followers on the social media site has unearthed how well-followed each team’s accounts are on the micro-blogging site. Newcastle have 541,000 followers compared to SAFC’s 339,000. And in South Tyneside, the black-and-whites are emphatically on top in the areas of South Shields and Jarrow, with almost 26 per cent and 20 per cent of users following them in those locations. The club are also the most followed in the Washington and Sunderland West constituency. Durham City also belongs to the Magpies, with Sunderland again second. Both clubs also have strong followings abroad, with Newcastle the eighth most followed team in the USA and Australia, Russia, Brazil and Finland. One country Sunderland have more followers in than their nearest and dearest is South Korea, with the Black Cats ninth and the Tynesiders placed 11th." Those two grew-up less than 5 miles apart. Why do people (some) in Jarrow/Tyneside support Sunderland? Is there any rhyme or reason to it? Anybody who says a variant of 'because they are South of the river', deserves to be verbally chinned.

Can't help liking Steve Cram. Him and Niall Quinn--a Makem by proxy and constant thorn in our side (even when at Man City)--seem like decent people.

Good comparison The rolling ball/Poyet one? I think that's where my unquenchable hatred for Chelsea began tbh. Aye f***ing Poyet and his one man vendetta against us that season. Wise as well, man. Their chuffed, irritating as f*** faces at the end as well. Crazy how mad that match made me. Well, apart from the grating injustice of them scoring after one of my least favourite footballers/people took a free kick while the ball was moving, I remember leaving thinking at least I've seen us score at Wembley. Also, felt nice that we (fans) showed some common decency with the ovation given to Zola as he walked off.

Playing on Monday night has fallen perfectly. What a great position to be in and potential for a wonderful night. Really wish I could be there. 3-1, is my prediction, and then we all become temporary Bristol City fans!! -
Woo-hoo! Just saw the HT score at Huddersfield. 1-4
