Christ, what the fuck was that?

Been nervous all day and Sky have purposely made the buildup nauseating as fuck for Newcastle fans.

It was supposed to fix any clear and obvious errors but it's simply not been utilized like that at all. You see refs just not even making decisions anymore at times and waiting for VAR to bail them out. That adds more inconsistency as sometimes VAR intervenes but others they won't and stick with the refs decision when often times that's been a non decision really. You could probably live with all the negatives of VAR if they were nailing the vast majority of decisions but there's so far nothing to suggest that would ever happen, the decisions are just as bad but now you just have to wait 5 minutes to find them out.

I have a lot more respect for managers like Conte who are pricks but just own it.

I know Southgate gets a lot of credit for that, and I'm not trying to take too much away from him in that regard but I think in general the English players get on much better with each other these days either way. Probably helped a lot by the fact there's no really fierce and nasty rivalries between the top sides over here these days. It's a totally different challenge trying to motivate players on 300/400k a week who can't really be arsed. Tactically the premier league and champions league are far more difficult than International football too. I genuinely think he'd struggle and be an uninspiring appointment for them.

Was a throwback to last season where we struggled to break down a side happy to play for a draw. Got in some good positions but suffered from terrible decision making and/or poor final ball.

I'd add Wirtz, too. The Jude role is quite odd in that his numbers are really great but he's struggled to get involved in a lot of the big champions league games. I think he'd look a lot better playing behind a proper striker.

Based on nowt but eye test I think most teams generally play more open now in the league. Don't really get many sides parking the bus anymore and there's alot more high pressing and high defensive lines across the board.

Enough people have seen the kits at this point that I'd imagine the leaks or mockups are at least 95% accurate.
