Two of the three main candidates for the England job, by the way. The other (successful) one paid £7m for a knackered Alan Smith. They inject passion, mind. Damning indictment of English football, that. Certain era English Managers imo.
-
That's how you go, but i reckon it'll be 4-2-3-1 with Anita alongside Hayden instead of Sissoko and Dummet still at left back.
-
Yeah i saw that, i think it's where he talks about good possession. You keep the ball and then you move the opposition around, having good movement. It's not the attacking side it's the defensive side of it, it's a 4-2-3-1 shape. At the the moment we simply don't have good attacking and movement play so it all looks so static. This is the 11 games in, he needs a lot longer to get what he really wants and how he really wants the team to play. It's work in progress, he'll get the defensive side sorted first and then the attacking side, it'll just take time.

I hope you are right. Dare i say a former manager of ours got it right from the off up the road? Didnt take him long. Rafa is a good man, he's a football man, a proper manager and im still behind him and will be going home and away this year for the first time in yonks. Maybe the hype has got to me, it certainly looked like it had got to the players.England national team syndrome. He'll get it right, it just won't be a goal fest attacking football scenario. The good attacking football will come imo, just not yet.

I do understand and accept the point but only having had eleven games doesn't really excuse playing Anita on the wing and Colback anywhere. We were far too defensive but, like you, I have faith that he'll see the problems and put them right. If he starts the same team against Huddersfield then maybe we have a problem. It why i said that bit, Rafa shouldn't get away with mistakes the same as players don't . I do have a slight worry about Rafa, he really is a rigid 4-2-3-1 man, with two holding midfielders which i hate seeing. It's not a promotion worry or good football thing, just something that i think he can deviate from especially in this league. He's married to the system as it gives you good cover defensively and he really is a not concede goal first manager. But not in the same way as a Pardew or Allardyce, once Rafa gets the pieces in the right place it's good to watch and brings goals, it's just i don't think we need two holding midfielders in the Championship.

Ah good then maybe Arma can go on loan if we bring another striker in. I think that's the plan tbh, i would be surprised if he isn't anyway. Another loan would help his progress imo, especially if he's not going to get that much game time here.
-
Just checked, it's Sept 4th v Slovakia.
-
Ah good then maybe Arma can go on loan if we bring another striker in. I thought we had one of those daft International breaks right at the start of the season again for some reason.

I know boots are lighter and do seem to offer less protection. I'm still playing and they have changed but if someone caught you on the top of your foot 25 years ago, it hurt like a fucker just as it does today, it's not like the boots were made mithril back in the day.
-
Doesn't really hurt my argument tbh, we are not gonna rely on Armstrong and Gayle. Even if the replacement is quality it's still leaving us very short. And Rafa said himself, even if we sign another striker Armstrong might not be allowed to go on loan until January because Mitro is unable to play until after window shuts. Loans are no longer allowed outside the window i think.
-
Day off isn't, footballers can afford those 2 hour flights to spend a day wherever they like. Money, and they say it doesn't make you happy.
-
I certainly hope so. Me too, I know mitro is a bit marmite for people, i just see something in him. He's definitely got the right manager now to help him along.
-
Personally i think Rafa likes Mitro and loves the challenge of turning a player like him into something better.
-
Guadelope is not a member of FIFA, it's the same reason why some full international Norwegians have turned out for the Sapmi national team. Same as Basque and Catalan national teams i would think. And Corsica who Remy Cabella has played for. They sometimes play proper national teams in friendlies.
-
So Rafa has suddenly had enough of Mitro despite him having not played this season. You could say Rafa decided that last season but why wait until know, and why did Rafa say just a few days ago Mitro has a big part to play. Rafa said yesterday he was looking in the loan market, that story is just 2+2=5, a headline of Newcastle looking at Everton youngster on loan is a nothing headline, but Mitrovic the mental head to leave looks so much better. Utter bullshit stuff.

No, i'm sick of seeing two defensive midfielders, i was sick of seeing it in the Premiership let alone in the Championship. Why we can't have Hayden in front of the defence and then Shelvey and Diame in front of him if it's to be one up front, unfortunately that's not going to happen as Rafa is basically commited to two holding players almost 100% of the time.
-
Dave said it yesterday, Rafa is just 11 competitive games into his Newcastle management. He's trying to change a club that has been defeatist and run in such a pathetically bad way for years now, and that simply won't happen overnight, within the club and on the playing side. The whole mentality of the entire football club is changing, it'll take time. That being said the performance of the manager in his selection and players in the game were not good enough, he'll know that and will put it right. I also expect to see more movement in the transfer market as it was evident despite our buys we are still lacking in a few areas. I still say half a dozen games to settle down and really get going is the mark i'm going by.

That's a ridiculous comment on so many levels, man. He's not talking about you Rocky.

Go all out for Knockaert or another proper winger, no Anita, Janmaat or any other player who isn't a winger. Knockaert plays the exact same position as Ritchie like, we're absolutely desperate for a speedy left winger Ritchie goes right, he played far better there and linked up well with Janmaat. Get Knockaert left with a new left back imo. But that takes away Knockaert's main skills. Knockaert's played pretty much every game in his career on the right wing so I'm presuming you've never seen him play. We need to stop with square pegs in round holes They can swap rotate etc, we need a less rigid system, with one less defensive midfielder for a start, But i obviously bow to you vastly superior knowledge of all things Knockaert and Brighton, and my quite obvious non watching of football. My apologises.

Yep giving the ball to a more creative partner, ah, which was Colback... .

He's inconsistent, something he'll get on top of and need to, certainly not going to write him off after one poor game.
-
I don't think we have to adjust at all to the league, we just have to pick square pegs for square holes and stop being afraid to attack what we are up against. True, it's a bit of both really, picking the right team does tend to help win games like.

Think you're seeing things that aren't there.
