  1. Willian is having a rare shocker.
  2. This 5 at the back, expect the center forward to hold the ball up long enough for the rest of the team to race up from the box or just outside it half worked for Benitez, it’s not working for Bruce. He doesn’t have the managerial talent to change the culture of the team. The notion that these players can’t keep the ball is ridiculous though. They are being trained and instructed to play this way, or were. I suspect Bruce had to ask how they did things before and has just tried to replicate it. He’s been lucky but luck always runs out. I think the only man who could turn us back into a team playing attractive football is KK.
  3. He started brightly. But has been more and more anonymous as the game has gone on. They’ll need to show some grit to get back into this.
  4. Lazarro has to do better there..
  5. So Liverpool need 5 more wins to confirm the title. They play us last at SJP in May, will the trophy be presented then or will they get it before?

    Nabil Bentaleb

He’s improved every game he’s played so far. Wouldn’t write him off just yet.
  7. Trying to convince the helicopter anoraks that water is wet is a lesson in futility. I don’t mind taking a bit of stick but when 95% of the people who post on this thread literally contribute nothing other than reposting bullshit from Reddit or Twitter it gets a bit tedious.
  8. The f*** are you talking about? Blaming the Coronavirus on the Takeover talks not progressing  Read the f***ing news. It’s all over the business reports and general consensus is it will be terrible for several economies. It’s definitely a reason why talks would stall a bit. There’s reaching and there’s this. Unless Ashley, Staveley or the crown prince himself have got bat lurgy there’s absolutely no reason why coronavirus is a factor. Well hypothetically, if Ashley is being true to himself and putting stipulations into the deal, he may not be in as strong a financial position to be doing this over the next few months if as has been reported, his suppliers are on hiatus. The key to him leaving has always been Sports Direct doing badly.

  10. I also wonder if this soon to be pandemic from China is forcing a slow down to the frequency of negotiations. It’s widely expected to create a very sudden downturn in several economies due to manufacturing and trade essentially being stopped indefinitely. If I was buying something from someone whose business relies on their clothing being made in China, I’d just wait a little while and see if they get a bit desperate.
  11. Ashley flew back to the states last week though?
  12. Silence is golden. The quieter it’s become the more desperate the national and local rags have gotten to produce bullshit click bait. They’re struggling to rehash weeks old info at this point. If it is indeed happening, it means that all parties are doing what they’re supposed to be doing which is doing it quietly.

    Joelinton

No it wouldn’t. He’s showing signs of improvement. He does need to be rested but there’s a break now so it should do a few of them good. Almiron too who’s been running himself into the ground.
  14. I can’t believe he’s got the nerve tbh. Strung along posters in here for weeks with his bullshit. I wouldn’t have minded too much if there had been an explanation or apology afterwards. I understand it when people are a bit bored or lonely and want to do something to feel relevant or part of something but to not admit that afterward I find a bit difficult. Blame Midhat. We all got sucked in. Everything up until the last week or so checked out. They had enough money to go window shopping and that’s all apparently. But if you want to blame me for the club not being sold that’s grand. I couldn’t give a fuck if your feelings were hurt. It was a frenzy at that point, so why not take the piss.
  15. Or it’s entirely possible that the deal still needs time. It got leaked well before it should have been. All sides unhappy about it. The likes of Caulkin who should know the inside track has been unusually quiet or the odd comment he’s made have been vague generalisations. He knows more for sure.
  16. The Wall Street Journal were quite clear about the situation when they wrote the piece. And the journalist interviewed on the radio backed it up by saying they wouldn’t have written the piece unless it was likely to happen. Any and all confusion that’s gone on since are when the national media and local rags got involved.
  17. He’s probably got half the ability of HBA but a thousand times the personality. Love the kid.

    Sean Longstaff

Was good tonight. He’s not quite quick enough to play that far forward role at PL level but it could benefit to push him further up than he has been playing. Quality of the opposition has to be a factor. His brother was poor tonight though. Lost the ball too much.

    St James' Park

If St James’ was levelled and a new stadium built on the site, would there be enough land to increase the capacity to 70 or 80k? And if it happened, would the surrounding infrastructure be able to support an extra 20-30k?
  20. The more I think about it, the more am convinced the leak came from the Saudi side, not Staveley or the other guys. I think they’ve used nufc as research into how much negative press they would receive if they bought any English team (more so Manchester United). They probably haven’t factored in media bias against nufc so they’re probably thinking it’s a bit soon to be making any moves to own a football team yet. I think Staveley has been burned here in this instance.
  21. How do you transition this team to one that’s comfortable having equal or more possession? If everything is going to be played from the back, we need Schär and Lejeune, the only issue is that Lascelles is a bit more solid in the air so he tends to get the nod first. I don’t know how you can transform the midfield. There’s no one player who makes the team tick. I think that’s the overall problem in the forwards not getting any service. All our midfielders are doing is protecting the back 4/5 then when we have the ball it’s played quickly out to the wing in the hope one of the forwards can carry it up the pitch. It’s hit and hope, at best. No methodology whatsoever. Rafa would set up the team to stifle and frustrate opponents. Then, when they’d basically thrown everything at us and not scored, he’d make a few small changes and we’d be up the pitch. We generally finished games quite strongly with him as manager. Bruce just doesn’t have a plan b
  22. I’m not sure he knows his best back line. Surely with the quality of defenders we have we can change to a back 4 and play 2 up front. It seems we’re playing a formation to keep certain players in the team. But it’s not working, obviously. It’s hard to leave Ritchie out but to pick a team for a better balance I’d go with this (when everyone if fit) and would change up between Schär and Lejeune until it becomes apparent who is better. Rose gets a start based on being the only fit left back. Dubs Yedlin Schär/Lejeune Lascelles Rose Lazarro Benteleb Shelvey ASM Joelinton Almiron
  23. 7 goals in 3 games. Kid is a machine.

    Joelinton

He put in a shift today. His team mates basically create nothing for him.
