Not a game I expected to see us get anything from, but I'm still glad to see the level of effort the players are putting in. 12 months back we'd have not even shown up
-
Never a foul there unfortunately

Imagine Steve Bruce getting sacked here going to a new club and thinking that we'd trust him to be able to develop one of our promising youngsters still.

He's probably the most fortunate of all the players in our team for the takeover happening when it did. He came to us at a time when the lack of direction allowed him to be a maverick and showcase his natural talent, and then the takeover coming at a time where as the side improves in quality he has the chance to start playing at the level he would want to, as long as he can mature alongside the team. He has all the ability in the world, but next season is going to be the make or break for him at this club, and if he fails here, his chances of playing at a top level club will not come around again I don't think

2003 we beat spurs 4-0, Robert got a brace as did shearer, pretty sure this was when he scored his 100th goal for us Watching from half a world away I'd get to see highlights of shearers goals, but was never able to stay up to watch entire games. This was the first time I managed to get into the pub on a Saturday night being only 15, and watch a game live, and truly fell in love with the club. Though theres been better results over the years this one here always stands out to me.

Not at all, it's a cheap excuse not to give it to him, but I can see them making it to avoid providing recognition to him
-
As great as Howe has been, I can see it going to Moyes or even Conte this year over him, purely because they'll say we've spent money. Even if it is for the first time in years.

It's not that he's lacking athleticism, but it's easy to see why people would think that. It's just his reading of the game is so good he know where he needs to be at the right time without needing to make a massive sprint to get there most of the time. The fact that he was able to make that sprint after 94 minutes of football, dive and head the ball with near perfect technique to put it into the net as far as possible from the keepers reach shows just how athletic he really is when he needs to be though.

We got a pet lovebird recently, and my kids are obsessed with encanto, but they don't know who really named the bird after

Header couldn't have been placed any better either, as far from the keeper as possible. Think I've just woken my neighbours at 1am
-
What a fucking finish
-
Looking at the bench, there's no one there now that could improve the game for us at all either unfortunately
-
Bet Howe is just waiting for end of season so he can bring in forward options so he's not having to take our only one off for a Centre mid
-
Dunno if it's the case or not, but feel like Maxi has been passing more then normal. Still feels like as good as some of our performances this year, shows how far as a squad we are behind Leicester in twrms of quality
-
They don't look comfortable dealing with miggy's pace, I wish he had the finishing to make it work for him here

God I love bruno g.

Was a clever corner there, but even ignoring the goal dubravka isn't looking up to it tonight

Unfortunately for us, the chance of us winning a world cup in the next few generations is basically nil. There's too much opposition within Australia to football ever succeeding that it will never really happen without a complete culture change here. The best chances we've had would've been if after the golden generation of viduka, Kewell, schwarzer and the like could've inspired younger generations, but it really didn't galvanise us to improve as a country, there's no investment into grass roots football either and our national league is a cluster fuck at the best of times. Add to this that the best home grown manager we've ever had was basically undermined in the role to the point he quit after qualifying for the WC, things need to change and drastically. I am hoping though the women's world cup here next year at least helps drive the women's game here because our Matildas are highly regarded, to the point I'd say that Sam Kerr is probably the most loved footballer we have at the moment.
-
We don't deserve to qualify this time either, one of the worst squads we've had since the 90s, worst manager i can remember. I hope we get there, but we really don't deserve it at the moment

Give last tournaments top 8 plus host nation auto wins for round 1 and could be good fun to watch.
-
I think the unbeaten run made me forget how shit we still are as a squad and how much work Eddie still has in front of him.
-
2 games in a row throwing it away at the very end
-
Everton look like now that the initial adrenaline rush has worn off for them they're going to fade away
-
What a fucking finish

Really feels like we're missing Joelinton breaking down play in the middle of the pitch today
