  1. Ipswich Town are sending us a flag for Saturday for Sir Bobby's birthday, apparently. Mint. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-64628905
  2. Forgot that his birthday was this coming Saturday. If the atmosphere against those fucking doylems at the weekend isn't belting then I despair.
  3. No email for me. Not too down as I knew there was negligible chance, just a tad disappointed when my dad and everyone we go to the match with are all going except me. Ah well. Just hope I can get to 1 or 2 aways in the rest of this season if anyone can help me out to satisfy the FOMO.
  4. Everton not heard of the concept of professional fouls?
  5. Will whitey if that nonce is allowed to do similar at SJP.
  6. Howay the Ev. Everton mate of mine is in the away end tonight, been on the drink since 1pm
  7. I remember early season when we had that great run of wins in October and November we got compared in the sense of playstyle and personnel to early Klopp Liverpool, 2015-17ish. I had a look back at their first full season under Klopp and I can see a few similarities. They didn't have any European football and only lost 2 of their first 21 league games, one of which was a stoppage time defeat at Bournemouth. Around NYE they were 2nd (we went briefly 2nd after Leicester away). Then in January, they lost Mane to the AFCON and went on a run of 1 win in 10 in all competitions, briefly dropping out of the top 4, before winning 8 of their last 12 to secure 4th place. Their top scorers that season also finished with only 13 league goals each, similar to what Almiron and Wilson are likely going to finish on this season providing Wilson doesn't keel owa again. They also didn't recruit in January despite losing Mane for a brief period. Mane's importance to Liverpool then is probably fairly comparable to Bruno's for us now. Once Mane returned, Liverpool's form did also, losing only 1 game in that last 12. They got top 4 and in the summer got Salah and Robertson. Van Dijk in the January after trying for him in the summer also, and we all know how transformative they've been. In addition in terms of the league I only am concerned with Spurs and probably Brighton's results atm. The gap between 4th and 5th, similar to being more concerned with the gap between us and 3rd in the Championship season under Benitez. We also may drop out of the top 4 for a period like Liverpool did in that first full Klopp season, especially with our games in hand v West Ham and Brighton still to come. When that happens I hope the fans don't shit the bed and that transferring into the matchday atmospheres. Not holding my breath though.
  8. Not when teams sit off against us in a low block it doesn't imo. Think that role, as we saw at Liverpool, is best for him when we're the side that's sitting off and he can use his ability to beat players and his pace in 1v1 situations.
  9. That's another thing which can be seen as positive or tragic (probably tragic as its fucking February ), we haven't even had our best side out yet. Wilson, ASM, Bruno and Isak have never been fit and on the pitch at the same time as each other once this season.
  10. Hope the atmosphere is absolutely vile for that lot given the ending of the reverse game. Last video in the OP for a little memory jog.
  11. His first start in 5 months after looking good in his cameos. Was poor like, no getting away from that, but so were all the other fuckers behind him. Just have to put it down as one of those days. Think next week's game will suit him better.
  12. Held giving immediate post match thoughts off for a bit as I can be guilty of being ABSEWLEWTLY FEWMIN after crap results, but here goes. IMO, we were shit today and got a naff result against a poor side that will most likely be relegated this season. But… - We were due this I think. Our squad is thin on strength in depth, we all knew this at the start of the season hence the predictions of us mostly finishing 10th-6th in the summer. As soon as injuries and fatigue (given the number of games we’ve played in the last month) set in we’d have to resort to giving the likes of Murphy, Anderson et al minutes in the PL which will cost us as they’re not good enough. We knew this. - We’re still doing unbelievably well. Club record unbeaten run? In the top 4 in February? In a cup final? Scandalous. That’s a credit to Howe and these players. - Today was still really poor. There was a disconnect between the back 4 and midfield in our build up and our passing has been way off for a while now. Parts of Southampton (a) in the cup, Palace (a) and West Ham (h) were noticeably poor. Even with Almiron’s goal, I thought everyone bar Pope and Joelinton were poor tonight. - Burn was especially poor and probably needs a rest, though we can’t afford that as the alternatives are Lewis and Dummett. He’s okay when we’re more defensive or sat off teams but when we have the onus on us to break sides down he’s not a great full back. Offers nowt going forward and had a poor game all round tonight. - Our attacking play needs a rethink. 3 goals in 6 PL games? Not particularly good enough. For any side in the league, really. - Hope we don’t wear the Saudi kit again. Cursed, that thing. - feel like pure shit just want bruno back - The owners are sticking to their original plan which is completely fine as we are ahead of schedule, but I can’t help but feel January was an opportunity missed. A couple attacking players and a midfielder may well have guaranteed us top 4. Especially with Chelsea, Liverpool and to an extent Tottenham being awful this season; they almost certainly won’t be as terrible next season as they have been this. - I also think even just these past 3 games have been huge opportunities missed themselves. Winning just 2 of those games (v 19th and 15th) would have us joint 2nd. - In a selfish toys oot the pram way, I’m sick of us drawing games tbh. It’s a total far cry from being hammered under Stephen Roger, but it’s just getting a bit, for want of a much better word, boring. Wallahi just WIN A GAME OF ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL PLS - We're 4th in February, are 8 points off last season's entire total and have made huge strides in a short space of time. It's also a great time to be a Newcastle United supporter, where we're unhappy with not winning away PL games. Enjoy it, stop the misery. Myself also included. - Forgot how reactionary this place can be, like. Proper throwback to the Benitez days where the level of fume and naff takes would be beyond the pale. Holding off making the pre Liverpool thread as the misery in there would be
  13. Aye, Liverpool properly bullied him like.
  14. Fucking hell. Awful all round. Burn, man.
  15. Class from Miggy. Nice bit of play, better than anything we conjured up in the 1st half.
  16. Gordon was screaming for that in space, ffs.
  17. Thank god we're level, as that was fairly lifting. Only Joelinton was coming out of that half with any form of credit before our goal. Put a rocket up their arses, Eddie.
  18. Shite. Got to improve or we'll get fuck all from this. Haven't even looked like having a shot.
  19. Right disjoint between the back 4 and midfield.
