Wor Flags: visit worflags.org.uk/donate to support future displays

Aye. Politically I'm a socialist and am vehemently against the idea of being born into positions of privilege which has been built on the wealth obtained over centuries of colonial exploitation. Am against the taxpayer paying money to keep them and resent the flagshagging which is rife in England. Hence why I am strongly against commemorating a monarch who probably visited this city 3 or 4 times over 70 years while on the throne. Especially as Newcastle is a left wing Labour voting city. The poppy is slightly different I think but gbandit is right that the symbol has been highjacked by the right wing. But I'm not overly bothered by poppy wearing on shirts or displays (remember the Flanders Fields display in 2018), its something football has always done and this city and football club has military connections so I can take or leave them. So much different to having a banner of the queen. But we certainly are a far cry from the Cool Britannia shit from the 90s. -

For me personally, I believe that football is a lot closer to remembrance than championing a monarch. Fans, coaches and players all fought or were involved in the two world wars (I believe there is a plaque outside SJP detailing that) and its something that has always been done in football. Saying that I don't get my knickers in a twist over people who don't wear poppies or get involved etc. -
Feels strange that this is so far away, hope to god it doesn't get postponed. Absolutely no reason for it to. Fancy us strongly and also fancy us to dish a pasting out here. Everything is positive in attacking metrics and I think it's a matter of time before we pummel someone. 3 or more goals.

Same. -
If that's the case I hope my life is also cancelled.
-
@ponsaelius & anyone else that bought trains down to London for this.

If the Bournemouth game gets canned then it's an absolute farce. Especially for their lot, having to come up here midweek in January or February. Means there won't be another game until 1st October and no home game until 8th October. Absolute state of it.

Jesus fucking Christ.
-
He and the PL probably want us to do something like this the whole weekend

Mate of mine is over 100 quid out of pocket thanks to this horseshit.

https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/west-ham-trip-postponed-following-the-queens-passing/?cvx "A decision on Newcastle United's home Premier League fixture against AFC Bournemouth at 3pm on Saturday, 17th September will be made in due course." I swear, man.
-
Wish they had just a modicum respect for the people who've forked out money during a cost of living crisis to go to these games this weekend.
-
Oh just fuck clean off. Fucking over the fans, again. Cunts.
-
It's like poppygate on steroids, a competition for who can be seen being the most respectful™ only this time it's to someone born into privilege and at the expense of a majority of people who couldn't give a fuck.
-
Any word on the Bournemouth game?
-
Minutes silence or applause and black armbands is all that's needed.
-
2 games to be moved and instead played midweek in an already congested season, causing hassle for working class people up and down the country in the midst of a cost of living crisis who've already forked out for travel, tickets and hotels so we can watch a funeral costing millions in taxpayer money. Champion. God save the king.

I hope not. -
Football wasn't postponed in 1952 or 1936 so they should fuck off imo.
-
Be the same with the PL you'd imagine.

Operation London Bridge apparently details 9 days of mourning. In 9 days time is the Bournemouth game, absolute joke if that's postponed too. I'm aware no crowds were permitted then but there was just a minutes silence and armbands when Phillip died, all that's required. Especially in such a congested season.
