We need to press these on Sunday. PSV goal came from it and they've won the ball high up the pitch a few times now.

Pardew speaks positively about the club now, as he knows that he was lucky to manage a club of this size and he never will manage in the PL again. He could've perpetuated the bollocks that Souness et al come out with in the media in England but he doesn't, so through gritted teeth fair play to him for that. Shame he couldn't do it when he actually had the job. "Can't compete with Swansea and Southampton", the belitting of expectations, talking in post match interviews as if we're thick. I won't forgive him for that, and certainly won't forgive his convincing of Ashley and some fans that being in the Europa League was a bad thing to cover his own arse and failings in 2012-13. "Thank god we're not in Europe". Wanker.

Genuinely can't wait for this. My first home game since Brighton and it feels like an eternity. I hate being this involved again under Bruce the games seemed to never end, coming round and hitting you in the face when you least expect it with their shitness. Now it feels like decades between games. Hurry up, man.

Simeone's Atleti are the epitome of when commentators and pundits go on about 'scenes you don't like to see' that everyone actually loves seeing. Horrible to play against certainly, but away from the at times OTT shithousery I really admire the way they defend. So well drilled and organised. Their fans love it.

True. Just saw the replay so deleted it.

Felipe on Foden.
-
Knew exactly what he was doing there. Scummy challenge.
-
Hopefully it's not as much of a shambles as the last one.

Unreal ball and finish.

Some performance from Chelsea.

Ugh. Why would you bump this? It was more or less around this game when I've been at my lowest regarding the club. Perez had scored after being booed for no reason, Maddison celebrated his goal in front of the Gallowgate and Choudhury scored. I remember because we picked up 4 injuries and 4 players had to go off we played the entire 2nd half with 10 men, already 0-2 down and just hoping they took mercy on us. Watching them just knock the ball around their back 4 under no pressure whatsoever in the closing stages is probably the worst I've ever felt as a Newcastle fan; that Leicester fucking City, a club who in Ashley's first season of owning us were relegated to League One, had come up, moved lightyears beyond us, won the league, were in the top 4 and had the freedom of SJP being 0-2 up. Was just so depressing. Why've you bumped this man, fuck off

Sheffield United 1990-91.

Peter Reid is sound. Always speaks well of us and the region, took the banter in good stead and fucking hates the Tories. Gonna be crying into my pint of Super Bock before a Champions League game at Porto that we'll never be as big as Sunderland due to the free season tickets when Ashley was here tbh.

We need to get to the point where we're the best of the other 14. Football doesn't work like this but 26 games are played against those 13 teams we need to be better than, 78 points available. If a team picks up 78 points they're playing Champions League football. ~65 gets you Europa League, this is where we need to get to. The club now has momentum and a feelgood factor probably almost as strong as it was in the 90s; the significance of that can't be underestimated. We've lost 1 home game in 10, to Man City, and from Howe's appointment up to now we're 8th in the table. Think about the momentum and periods when the club was really ticking: 1992-1994. First half of 2016-17 despite it being in the Championship. This calendar year so far. So many neutrals and opposition have commented on the atmosphere at SJP, teams won't want to come here. Now that feelgood factor, think of it in August. New players, new season, sun beaming. Yes fucking please. It's worth a few more points to us and other clubs can't replicate that, for various reasons. It's all about recruitment and getting it right. We won't be able to shift everyone we want to shift in the summer but we do need some surgery regardless of how well we've done recently, so we have to make the 1 or 2 signings it takes each season to get to where we want to be. Bellamy and Robert took us from finishing 11th two years running to 4th. Van Dijk and Allison have taken Liverpool from around 4th spot to being one of the best teams the PL has ever seen. These types of transformational signings are the ones we need, Bruno's one of them (who we were able to get when 18th, so I've no worries about attracting players). A goalscorer, CB, CM and probably a winger are what we'll need. Given our form since Howe took over as well as other factors I've mentioned, if we can get the recruitment right I don't see why we can't be on the cusp of the Europa League spots, 9th-6th. West Ham, Villa, Wolves and Leicester are who we'll be competing with. Leicester will be having a quasi overhaul this summer as well so they could again be as poor (by their recent standards) as they have been this season. Arsenal and Man Utd are probably 2-3 seasons away from competing with, Chelsea and Spurs another 2-3 after that. From my own personal view though I'd be happy with a season where we're simply not entering anyone's minds in regards to relegation. I expect though that after the summer we'll move beyond clubs like the 3 promoted, Everton, Southampton, Brentford, Brighton et al. Either way it'll be a steady build that we must recruit well for but it's going to be some ride. Strap in.

That Cornet miss will be their De Jong v Villa (h) moment. #wait
-
Now he's been HAULED off.
-
Scored fewer goals and Wood's played just 1 more game.
-
Bit yer da/Brexit but challeeeeeennnnnge from Ramsey.
-
I thought he'd have them better than they have been, playing some disgusting football that gets results which he oft did with Palace. But this'll be their 9th straight defeat at home. Absolutely shit.
-
Burnley or Everton for the last spot. The game tomorrow is huge for the former.
-
Ronaldo, Sancho, Fernandes, Elanga and De Gea I assume?
-
A massive revamp needed as your players' attitudes absolutely reek. Each time I watch Man Utd they always seem absolutely awful, no idea how you've only had 3 league defeats under Rangnick.
