I can't just switch my NUFC attachment off, mainly because I'm an idiot. Believe me, over the last 2 years I've tried. But yeah, it just will be more of the same shite next season, probably an okayish start, a rancid run in December-March and a good end to the season topped off with a bottom 8 finish. A handful of good performances which are immediately followed with 90 minutes of shit a la the turnaround from West Ham away to Brighton at home, Burnley at home to Man Utd at home, Everton away to Palace at home et cetera. It's why Bruce is shit, no consistency, or just consistently shit. He never has taken a club to Europe via league position or won anything. Even if we somehow get Willock back, hold onto ASM or whatever, what I just described above is how next season will go. On top of all of that you've got the goading of the fans and being general cunt. Benitez, if he was still here and we were signing the likes of Dias and Fernandes like he's stated he was looking at doing before limitations imposed by the hierarchy stopped him from doing so, with Rondon, Perez et cetera, we'd be in Europe now. Or challenging the likes of Leicester. And like you say, 2011-12, 2017-18 and 2018-19, perhaps even this season at a stretch, are times to invest in the team and make those steps forward. But no. Newcastle United, a club of ifs.

Rafa was looking at Bruno Fernandes and Ruben Dias when here. Bruce is giving Shelvey and Gayle new contracts.

Football seems hellbent on changing things for no real reason nowadays. Keep it.

Allegri back at Juventus.

Personally think the 76-83 badge is a bit, well, sad. The little magpie and that, looks shit in my humble opinion. The 83-88 badge is OK, tbh I wouldn't be averse to that being on the shirt but the club crest staying the same like what is done at Liverpool; the badge of the club is the same but the liverbird with LFC underneath is what's on their shirts. These circular badges though, shite. Get to fuck. At least with Man City's it was a nod to their 80s and 90s crest. If the amount of colours on ours are such a pain then make our current crest just black and white or something. All about money these days.
-
Newcastle Hotspur. Honestly, hope we never change our crest. Anyone who wants it changed is probably a nonce.
-
Think its fucking shit personally. Never change our crest, please.

Third kits were originally meant to be clubs' away kits in Europe if they were in European competitions? I dunno. They're just there for money making now. Personally think change kits should only be worn when there's a clash. Black and white are our colours and we should try and wear them wherever possible. Just put our away kit back to the yellow and green kit of c. 1991. Doesn't clash with anyone other than Norwich, where we'd just wear our home kit.
-
Aye, it's a football pet hate now when teams wear change kits when they don't have to. It's obviously contractually obliged nowadays that they have to wear change kits for x amount of games or whatever. Back in the early 2000s and 90s we would go to Leeds and Spurs wearing our home kit. No chance of that now. We've worn change kits at Man United, Leicester, Burnley, Villa, Palace and Everton: fixtures where there's no clash at all.

His thick cunt son and many in the media have completely forgotten the various soundbites in which Bruce has had a go at the fans for merely being football fans. Just from the top of my head from this season, Saying in the written press section of a press conference before we played Burnley at home 'ah, so all of a sudden we have to think we're Liverpool do we?' after being asked what he thought about us having 3 shots on target in our first 3 games of the season. Calling the fans who were critical of the team's performances 'keyboard warriors' despite the Internet being the only way fans can talk about their team in the midst of a global pandemic. Calling criticism 'histrionics' before we played Man City away just after we were knocked out of the League Cup at the quarter final stage by a Championship side who had made many changes to their team on the night. Calling criticism during a run which would turn out to be 2 wins in 21 games 'mass hysteria'. He's a total cunt and renders it basically impossible to give him any credit for our run after the Brighton away defeat. He can fuck off.

Fair enough. Know nowt about the lad. Sounds promising.
-
Choudhury is just an ever so slightly more mobile version of Hayden isn't he? Think both he and Willock would compliment each other well. Signing only Choudhury though and not Willock is pointless.
-
Early days though I don't have faith we'll sign him permanently but bloody hell do I hope we do. Absolutely love the lad.
-
Fuck it, go on then. Player of the Season: Wilson Match of the Season: Leicester away Goal of the Season: Can't pick from ASM v Burnley at home, ASM v Burnley away or our 4th goal at Leicester Most Improved Player of the Season: Jacob Murphy Worst/ Most Disappointing Player of the Season: Hendrick Season mark out of 10: 5 Manager mark out of 10: 2 (would be 5 if he wasn't such an arsehole)

In regards to boycotts, yeah. Protests such as the ones in that 1988-89 season, personally got no clue on the uptake. Probably more than the ones in the last 10 years tbf. So, aye.
-
I know, a sit in at the Gallowgate at the end of a drab contest v Man United on TV was one such protest. A game at the end of the season v Millwall saw a guy laying a 'Sack the Board' banner on the pitch during the match. You'd never get any of that from our fans now though, it's mellowed. A lot of the diehards have chucked it and the ones who have replaced them see the most they can do is sing about Ashley being fat at the match.
-
Sake. Performances and results have taken what has been an unprecedented upturn after that Brighton performance and result tbf but there is no reason why we shouldn't have been playing like this in that shocking run of 2 wins in however the fuck many it was. Bruce is terrible and a smarmy cunt to boot so it's nigh on impossible to give him credit because of that. Either way, this squad is our best in terms of individual player since arguably 2013-14. That its been playing football so shit and results so dire for so long is unforgiveable.
-
The two aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. Many, especially on here, see boycotting matches as the only effective form of protest against Ashley. And boycotting matches for a particular protest against owners for Newcastle fans (or for most English football fans tbh) has never been something that they've done across their history. Other forms of protest, ie holding up banners/signs, walk ins, sit ins, walk outs get either ridiculed from both sides of the spectrum or uptake for them in terms of participation is feeble. Obviously in an ideal world no one would attend matches until Ashley sold but it just won't happen, nor will a united, effective protest unless, as history suggests, results and league position or status turn. Its the reason why I just won't get wound up by match attendees or whatever, I've personally already accepted that that is how our fans are and for the most part always have been. We just need to wait it out until we're sold, whenever that is. It'll be grim but hey ho.
-
For Newcastle fans gates have only significantly dropped when results are bad. 1977-82. 1988-1992. When protests have been organised they tend to drop on their arse. United Supporters for Change in 1989 called for a boycott of the Leeds match; 24,400 still went which was the 4th highest gate in the league that year, one of the 3 games above that was a derby. Spurs boycott in 2015 was a relative success, though quite a number still went. Wolves boycott in 2018 was cancelled. West Ham walk in in 2018 was pathetic. Arsenal boycott 2019 equally as pathetic. The ground has only been fairly empty when league position and results have been at their lowest ebb.

Watched Barnsley across 150 minutes of these play off games now and can't remember them having a clear chance. Shite.
