    On this day...

His regression was unreal, he played a gargantuan part in our upturn in form in the second half of 17/18, was probably our best player at home to Spurs on the opening day of 18/19, then that Cardiff game happened.
  2. Don't understand what any of that means.
  3. Juve went from Conte and Allegri to Sarri (who I do actually like as a manager) and Pirlo. The former two still failed ultimately in the CL and that Ajax defeat will be a stain on Allegri's CV but Juve haven't won the double or the scudetto convincingly (or soon to be at all) since he left. Agnelli and co have fucked it. Good, he's a cunt with that Super League carry on. Underlines Conte and Allegri's credentials though imo.
  4. Not a huge fan of Squires but that last frame, ffs.
  5. Hoping but sort of not hoping at the same time that this is a game where Bruce gets one of his spawny out of nowhere wins a la Everton away.

2 years ago! Time flies. One of my favourite ever games at SJP that I've been to, that.
  7. Not exactly punditry but that Ed Chamberlin bloke (who now does horse racing I believe?) was a far better presenter on Sky than that Dave Jones bloke.

Few things, Rafa was available and approached the club, the atmosphere and manner of the defeat to Bournemouth, our general performances and results in the league and the fact that we were 19th(?) when he was sacked. Nah we were 17th when hair island was sacked, i think. Nah, 19th. https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/premier-league/11-march-2016/
  9. Disagree with that. From 2016 I'd take Wijnaldum, Sissoko, Perez, probably Mitrovic as our Wilson alternatives are dire. Wilson, ASM, Almiron, Willock (although he's a loan player), Hayden, Dubravka, Schär (assuming you mean the whole squad) are better options than many in that 2016 side.

  11. Thought Beardsley and Cole would've been on here.
  12. Yeah. To the wrath of many I posted some of the Sky footage from the 0-1 defeat to Man Utd in 1996 in the on this day thread, those covering the game sound taken aback when talking about the fact that we had 61% possession. Think one of our games under Rafa v Man City ended up with us having 19%.
  13. Who is scoring the goals? Wilson and Almirón are back after the international break, like. May well be too little too late but hey ho. They were in both in the team nearly all season also, but, won't make a difference with Bruce still manager. True. But whilst I've been slagging off what we've been playing since Jones came in all day, it is far more effective and would yield more points with Wilson, ASM, and Almirón in the team. We would've won today if those 3 were playing. Maybe, still don't think Jones is the answer mind. Today, for example we put square pegs in round holes just so we could continue playing that system. A good coach (I will not say manager as we know Bruce is an idiot) would recognise that and have an alternative plan. Aye. What I've been saying. So you can then? I get what you mean anyway.

  15. He’s almost certainly going to murder you in your sleep. Need to amuse myself as the football provides no joy.

  17. Wish we kept Mbabu though. One of Rafa's few mistakes, getting rid and bringing Gamez in in 2016/17.
  18. Need to win really. This and/or Brighton. Or we're down.
  19. Fucking despise Edwards almost as much as Bruce. Hope he gets invited into a Saudi embassy in the near future. Bald cunt.
  20. Plus Patriot Barnes. Top lad, loves a pint, hates horrid forners like Benitez. Don't think Bishy Bish is there anymore though. Although it's like choosing how you want to die, I'd much rather Llambias was MD rather than the bald cunt.
  21. Well, Bournemouth was the end of McLaren. Can't see Ashley fucking this cretin off now though. SJP was toxic that day. This is when having fans in helps, Bruce has been getting away with murder all season with this tripe.
  22. Posted in the Bruce thread, Jones' formation is bollocks. Plays with no strikers and exposes our s**** full backs badly. We may well be able to play with Almiron, Wilson, Manquillo and ASM but they're out and it needs changing. If we don't beat Villa or Brighton a strong 10, we're down. Change to what? Isn’t formations problem, is lack of making use of it, and having any conviction in anything we do. Resorted back to Bruce’s classic approach of direct to Joe wide, who hopefully can get better of a full back physically. Nothing went through midfield, despite having four players in there. Full backs forever rushing it forward, instead of playing it back into midfield and going again. That’s not just lack of talent, that’s instruction. Can’t just drop wingers so deep to protect crap full backs, as it’ll be back to case of having next to nobody in forward areas. It’ll be a case of us being sitting ducks again. We aren’t good enough in transition to move the ball, move positions, be patient when needed and get players from deeper areas into attacking positions to build attacks, probe down one side, come back out and try again. The formation is part of the problem. We caught out Everton with it and capitalised on a poor Southampton defence who conceded 9 goals in one game in the game before but now its been found out. The players available can't play in this, Gayle was tragic when he came on and was tragic at Chelsea when in this weird false 9 winger hybrid position that Wilson had joy in at Everton. We didn't press today like we have done in games previous, as we lack Almirón's energy. And with ASM, Almiron and Wilson out we have zero goal threat or creativity as was seen today. Constant long balls to Fraser () and Joelinton. We need to get the best out of the players we have available and keeping on playing this system is hindering rather than helping.
