I would like him upgraded upon and have done for a while but selling him now assuming that's what we're doing (may not even be true ) doesn't solve any immediate problems imo as we'd need to sign his replacement at RW and the CM we desperately need. In 4 days.

The last Newcastle player to score at Villa Park? Gouffran, September 2013.

5th round, gerrin. That performance in the first hour though.

Away end has been spectacular tonight.

Made it out. "Krafth and Dummett at the back Tino on the overlap Ritchie's staying 10 more years Geordie boys are on the beers"
-
Yeah. I can only make out that line and "Geordie boys are on the beers" after it. Dunno what the other lines are.
-
"Ritchie's staying 10 more years" ffs
-
Same. Feels weird.
-
Absolutely honking but winning. Gerrin

It's purely because we have no one else but the current midfield 3 just doesn't work.

Get in. Need Guardiola to bugger off soon as well.

One of the most important results in our recent history. https://youtu.be/gH1BrZHDga8?si=YjUGI2AodGewnpdG

Happy days. Surprised if he gets moved on this window, like. But he's needed upgraded for a while now.

Just the constant repeat of those dreaded 3 letters 'FFP' (or PSR) has me thinking that every pound that we spend counts. Better value seems to be abroad and reading about the 'need for PL experience' I just find so frustrating. Especially when our best and most important players were signed from abroad in Isak and Bruno. Hence the hyperbole from myself; 'fascinated' wasn't the right word but I do think the manager favours a player who plays in the PL or has played in it over a player who hasn't for incoming transfers. We'll see. Got to just keep the faith, I guess.

Isak and Tonali were but 3 of our 5 most expensive signings post takeover have been Gordon, Livramento and Barnes. Gordon has come good this season after an iffy first few months last season, Livramento has stood out but should be getting more minutes than he is imo, probably ahead of Burn and Barnes through no fault of his own has only played 180 minutes of football this season. I wasn't overly convinced we needed Barnes either, but then I thought that about Gordon last year. True but I do question how Matt Ritchie has been getting more appearances from the bench than Lewis Hall. May be something we don't know going on behind the scenes there (unsure what, mind).

Given the fees that get quoted from PL clubs for their players and our lack of wriggle room due to PSR/FFP, I'd say it does atm. Not usually though.

Can't remember which.

Fuck sake. Utterly sick to death of that. It's Howe's biggest flaw; this fascination with only signing players from other PL clubs. The most expensive market there is. Being keen on Calvert-Lewin ahead of Isak, being allegedly sceptical about Bruno, allegedly saying no to Paqueta, his comments on Solanke, links to McTominay, Billing, Kelly et al. Smoke and fire. The top clubs, which we want to become one of, hardly ever shop in the PL market. The fees and wages are over inflated for the level of ability you get. You get quoted £50m for Onana, you'll get quoted between £40m-£60m for Solanke. We got Bruno for £39m.

As much of a cunt he is Bruce was right about Hope, like.

Same. Anything between £15m-£30m would probably be 'good' but what he brings on and off the field can't be replaced. Been an outstanding de facto captain and one of the best RBs in Europe the last 18 months. However, a £20m fee goes straight onto the books but can spread across incoming transfers' contract lengths. Means we could bring 2 £50m players on 5 year contracts provided the first installment for both is £10m. I think?
