Can never read much into preseason but 4-0 against a Villarreal side who are no mugs, whew. Impressive stuff. -

Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to Tour Singapore

Hey! I did ask... -
Top end of the Championship looks strong this year whilst the bottom half of the PL looks garbage.
-
It's just the lack of goals; for the last 3 years they haven't had a player that's scored more than 6 goals in the league. And there's just general negativity regarding the lack of funds, Lopetegui's future and regression.
-
A very wordy way of saying "we're skint lads". Wolves, like Leicester, have gone down the pan last couple of years after a few years of being the non-big 6 club others aspired to be, on the cusp of challenging. Leicester have been relegated and I think there's a very good chance Wolves follow them this season.
-
All they need to do is recreate Juventus' 2017-18 shirt and they'll sell a ridiculous amount. They'll probably re-release old stuff such as away tops and training wear like they've done for Arsenal's 1989-90 and 1993-94 stuff. Thing is if they do that, my net worth shrinks by over a half given the original stuff I have now.
-
And he had his fair share of those chances missed. Then again, both games against Bournemouth, the away game at Leeds, Palace away are games from the top of my head where we struggled to create chances from open play and/or didn't work the keeper often.
-
True and he'll have his role in games where we do that. But when some sides come to SJP, even away from SJP tbh, and allow us 65%+ possession of the ball which will happen more frequently, the history suggests he'll offer little towards breaking them down.
-
And I sincerely hope he does.
-
So are assists. He has 3 in 98 league games.
-
He's scored 2 goals in 2023, and went February 2021–April 2022 without scoring or assisting a goal. There's nothing to suggest that from his 4 and a half years here that that goalscoring run from October-November last season wasn't a purple patch. And I don't want him sold btw. He's a good option for the squad given the volume of games. But our options there are only Almiron and Murphy unless you count Gordon towards it.
-
Makes you wonder why we signed Ashby though? If he wasn't to be Trippier's understudy/backup, why did we sign him? We still have Manquillo and Krafth on the books as well and although they aren't great, Krafth deputised for Trippier brilliantly after he got injured in 2021-22. ACL this season scuppered his minutes.
-
Good addition which will take some weight off Trippier's shoulders. Do have to admit though I find it ever so slightly odd that we went into this window needing a LB and RW but thus far we've signed a RB and LW. CB is still an issue too. Never expected all of those to be sorted this window, mind. But feel as though we have other positions that need strengthening a lot more than the positions we've strengthened thus far.

Spurs (H) was so wildly good it was hilarious, but Man Utd (H) was utterly dominant. Another 7-0 was coached by Edward. Shame the scoreline didn't reflect that more.
-
Absolutely rinsed that horrific bald pervert.

Only team we've yet to score against at SJP under Howe.* Lost all games to them too. Game against them last season looking back is infuriating; given the chances we missed with 10 men and the way they capitulated against Real Madrid at Anfield only a few days later there's every chance we get back into that game 11v11. Almiron, ASM, Wilson all missed good chances and we hit the bar twice I believe? Certainly at least once, Burn header from a corner. *With the exception of Leeds
-
Yep, Man City twice and Brentford once. Only lost to Man City x2, Liverpool x2 and Arsenal in the league at SJP under Howe also in 33 games.
-
Yep. Dunno why it's such an issue. I needed to do it last season; we took my grandad who's 88 and can't walk too far without being out of breath to the Man Utd game in April, was his first game in over 20 years. We needed his seat to be next to my dad's ST seat and as close as possible to the aisle to take any additional strain off him needing to either walk past people or let people past him. Had to plan ahead essentially. That's now impossible to do with how it is now. A STH will also not be able to take his non STH child to a match now either even if he knew the seat immediately next to him or near him is not held by another STH. It's honestly just really shit.

Almost all of that for me is from social media but this summer has been beyond the pale, mirroring the shambolic communication and implementation of stuff from the club. The fall out from the ticket lark with the prices, to the patter after the release of the CL packages, to the holier-than-thou elitism from some fans, to the 'can't afford it don't buy it, it'll sell anyway' & 'it'll help FFP' patter and this ballot stuff. At games though, mainly aways (2/3 last season I've been to in the away end on my own), I've never felt more looked after and amongst the camaraderie from our fans as I have at those games. Home games in the pubs before and after likewise but I get a stronger feeling of that at aways. Social media however is the total antithesis. Burnsie, the fans who come out with that patter listed above, fucking weirdos like Gallant, sanctimonious wannabe ITKs such as that Baz prick et al, all as embarrassing and hatred inducing as the last.

Hopefully. But if the system is not fit for purpose yet it shouldn't be used yet.

They've taken a mile and given back an inch. Our owners, man. System is still shite, bare minimum it should've been when it came out. Not being able to pick multiple categories is also shite.
