Crystal Palace 1 - 1 Newcastle United (23/10/21)

I think it's more a case of CP treating us like contemporary Norwich. We've done well to limit their actual opportunities. I think we'll be too fucked to win this in the second half, but the progress is there to be seen. -

A lot more intensity already. Given that previously we struggled to last an hour , this will be interesting. -

First 10, away from home? Absorb the pressure and work your way into the game. -

Was mesmerised watching Amanda [hoping she was reading a text from our next manager] and assume I misheard the commentator, but it sounded like he said "they'll accept any shit now, after Ashley". -

Jones reminds me a little bit of John Simm. -

Continued from pre match: "Them tops they've walked out with are fucking beautiful." Damn right. I was looking for the kits thread to comment. Was hoping they were going to reveal a new shirt with the white stripe blacked out. -

I understand that, but whoever plays on the left is going to be constantly drawn out to our exposed flank. Playing a left footer gives a better opportunity to get to the ball first. 3 at the back gives extra cover in case Lascelles is drawn to cover Clarke. Schar on the right would be perfect, but I suspect he's not up to 90 minutes. -

Schar was the first player whose motivation visibly dropped, there is every possibility that he's not up to 90 minutes and has been sacrificed so as not to use up a sub before the game has started. -
Some "surprise names", you say?

Yeah. Harsh on Miggy but does suggest a bit of thought towards game management. -

As much as I want Schar in, I think it's suicide to leave the left side so vulnerable. I can see the reasoning behind a back 3 with Clark on the left. -
Had a good feeling Mount would step up today, in the absence of Lukaku. The decision to replace Lukaku with Rondon was bold, but based on the same principle, who will get the goals in a game that should offer plenty of opportunity.

Gonna go ahead and say it. I think we'll get a win. Away from the home pressure, if Jones can get them firing, like he did when he first came in, for the first 30 mins of each half [I doubt we're capable of more than that] and manages the game sensibly, we have a chance. -

Let's see what he gets them doing before we judge. I know on paper it looks shite, but if we're going to play counter attack we need to be organised defensively. This at least looks like there may be some logic to it. -

I can see the need to go for a left footer, in order to cover when Ritchie fucks up his defensive duties. I think the same would have been true with Lewis, but I would have preferred Lewis. No excuse for Krafth over Schar. -

And I don't think he hit is stride, under Bruce, until he complained about not being picked. -
Maybe we should have kept Bruce. That infinite contract would sort us out, nee problem.

Why do you think the new manager is taking so long? Fonseca was practically signed until Lieutenant Charnley asked, "Ah. Just one more thing, sir..."

Asking a bloke's uncle for his opinion on his nephew is very progressive.

People that look to the media for opinion. Convenience thoughts.

It's a pretty safe bet that there'll be a surprise name thrown out every time the betting cools. That said Ando's info does tend to be more than just logic.
