  1. I’d say ‘decent’ seasons, with very good/excellent moments. Ultimately it looks like they’ll finish 10th and 11th, which is nothing to be sniffed at, but not really ‘Manager of the Season’ worthy.
  2. Do we know who @Disco is voting for?
  3. Got to be the first time Real Madrid have ever bought someone off Bournemouth.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

With one year on his contract, I’d agree 12m is very much top end of his worth.

Are you saying the Tyler Dibling deal is a non-starter?

He could accept a £100k pay cut and still be our top earner. If anyone’s splashing those kind of numbers wages it’s his former club…
  8. Agreed, but season after next eh, let us have the unfair privileges just once.
  9. And remember we’re in the cool gang that can’t get a hard draw in the third round of the Carabao now (assuming that’s still a thing next season?).

That’s probably true. Although I think he was always in the ‘got a mistake in him’ category, but Man Utd have turned that into ‘got a mistake in him every 2/3 games’.

Mendy was very good for a time tbf. Not very familiar with many of the others outside Grobbelaar.

Has there ever been a real high quality African keeper? I’m sure there probably has been, but I can’t think of one off the top of my head. Suppose Grobbelaar was Zimbabwean wasn’t he? Long time ago though.
  13. Probably depends on the draws tbh. Get draws like we did last season and we’re going to struggle. Get some relatively kind home draws, at least in the early rounds, and can probably still have serious go in the latter stages.

I think Trafford is actually superior to Pope in shot stopping. He has similar enormous wingspan, but probably more athleticism. We’re he’s inferior is commanding the area. I don’t think it’s as much of an issue as some make out, but he’s definitely not at Pope’s level. And obviously, he’s significantly better with his feet.

“Solid defensively at this level” might be a tad understated for a team absolutely smashed every defensive record going.
  16. So where’s Amorim got all these tickets from?

    The Other 18

    Embarrassing bollocks.
  18. It is at Southampton. Not that it really makes a great deal of difference IMO. Credit to them for holding Man City, but they did get absolutely battered and would have lost that game 90% of the time.

Agree, but I think you can except CB from the list as well.

Vlahovic is on ridiculous money at Juve, so I think we all know where that one can be filed…

He’s still basically ‘cheif scout’. Mitchell being around probably takes away the need to use his name to fill column inches though.

If I was being kind I’d call those amounts ‘optimistic’. If I was being less kind, I’d call them mental.

Summer window SLAMMING shut at 7pm rather than 11pm on deadline day now.
  24. If people had a choice of a last day fixture between Everton at home or Man Utd away, surely you would choose Everton at home, despite everything around Man Utd. Find it baffling that people assume this is a GUARANTEED three points for Villa, yet we’ve got a tricky fixture that we could slip up in. FWIW, I’ve long been comfortable with our final fixture in the belief that Everton’s season effectively ends the week before with the last game at Goodison.
