I'm surprised Adrian Durham hasn't said the Saudis should be investing the money into the NHS instead. I think read somewhere that they will be making a sizeable donation when the deal is announced. Clever really, as even Amnesty can’t shit on the gesture given what’s going on. "Healthwashing"
-
That’s true. Although they do constantly claim to be being “guided by the science”. That’s until they decide it’s costing too much presumably.
-
Well, they more or less said it stays in place (to varying degrees) until there’s a vaccine sorted, which they estimated at a year+. Having said that, you’ve basically got every lab rat in the world working on it, so you’d hope it would be sooner.
-
This is the problem really. Beacuse we all want this to go through so desperately, it feels like anything that could be a threat to it, is a direct attack upon us/the club. In reality it's not, it's an attack on Saudi and the people running the regime, but because of that fear of the deal being scuppered, people don't see that.

Jesus Christ, you can't be serious?

Mate, Amnesty are not going to determine there response to stuff based on which team is involved. They didn't say anything publically (to my knowledge) about the Man Utd thing because it's completely insignificant in comparison to us actually being owned by the Saudi's.

What a cunt of a buy Rodwell was mind If you ever care to take a look at their Top 10 most expensive buys, it’s absolutely mind-blowing. With the exception of Darren Bent, all of them ended up being a disaster one way or another.

What's the benefit, financially, for League One teams in ending the season as is?
-
No, unsurprisingly. I have some sympathy in respect of the fact that nobody really has the first clue what's going to happen, so in that sense they can't really promise anything. However, it seems Man Utd and a couple of others have realeased statements basically saying if the season is voided or games are played behind closed doors they would refund ST holders for those games. I think under Ashley we were all slightly fearful that at best we'd be given club vouchers or something, but I think (hopefully!) under the new regime we'd get a refund or money off next seasons ticket.
-
Indeed, except they 'belong' to someone that already has a season ticket. Which makes the whole renewal issue a bit strange. So if I were able to renew it, would it still belong to me, with my name on it, or would they want to transfer it to the person that is actually sitting in that seat?
-
Yes, i've got two. Well I'm in possesion of two that i've been sharing out to various mates match-by-match, if you see what I mean.

I'm sure the freebies don't have automatic chance to renew mind iirc? They don't. When I log into my account i've got an icon next to the two freebies I got that says 'Item may be renewed' when I hover over it? I've had no communication to say whether it can or can't be mind. People have said it was in the terms and conditions about them being renewable or not. I wouldn't trust NUFC's ticket systems. Fair point. I'll have a look and see if i've got any of the T&C stuff anywhere. Cheers. If you could let me know I'd be really grateful mate! I packed in mine last summer so want to know if I can get get my hopes up on getting mine and the bairn's back, or whether we will have to try and get general sale tickets every week. Had a look at the confirmation email for them and the link on there for T&C just takes you to the standard ST T&C's on the club website (did spot an interesting clause in relation to 'Force Majeure', but that's another discussion..), nothing specific to the free ones. As I remember it, there was also very limited paperwork that came with the actual tickets when they arrived, so not sure if they actually drew up any specific T&C's? So in summary, that's no help whatsoever.

Did we have about 32k ST holders this year before the free ones? Think I may have read that somewhere? Then you need 3.5k for away fans and 10%(?) (5k) has to be kept for match by match sales. So I'd guess you're looking at a further 12k ST being available?
-
I don't think it's out of the question. I'd be surprised if there's anywhere near half of of free tickets get renewed at full price. Obviously there's the issue around those have have packed in fairly recently, whether they get first dibs, and how you manage all of that. There'll obviously be a surge in demand, but I think it's difficult to predict how big that will be. Depending on how long this COVID situation drags on for you could have a lot of people, sadly, being in a more difficult position financially, so it could be that there's a reasonable number that can't renew.

Was that the one that had a reply from a guy outlining what he believed the 'loan' was all about? Seemed very plauisble and sensible. This bit? Yep, from a layman's POV that seems perfectly plausible. so staveley is in effect loaning her "buy in" for the club from the club itself and will pay back at a later date, presumably when she gets the barclays thing sorted out? Could be. Or the Saudi's are going to cover that part once it goes through? Not sure how it all sits with who has to pass the fit-and-proper test?

Seems it's the club (via SJHL) that's lending rather than Ashley.

Wonder if we'll do similar for Bournemouth....
-
They did and I was there that day. Had Devon White playing for them, IIRC. Infact, it might have been Ossie Ardiles' first game as manager. Looks like we actually won 2-1, although I think you're right about Devon White playing (and scoring). Ah, I think the game we lost to them was the season before - 90/91.
-
Great KO time IMO. Hopefully generates the same kind of atmosphere as Liverpool last season.
-
Aye I think we'll definitely be on the Saturday like. As you say Man Utd game will be Sunday. Chelsea play away at Bayern the Wed before, so they would probably prefer a Sunday. And Sheff Wed already at home on the Saturday, so can't see the Sheff Utd game being on the same day. Liverpool ko off at 5:30 on the Saturday at home to Palace, where they could possibly win the league, so other broadcasters might want to stay completely clear of that and the subsequent hours of love-in that follow.

Gone from a "fallout" and "future in doubt" to "no physical or verbal confrontation".
