If we’re staying at SJP, then some difficult decisions probably have to be made about relocating folk in order to try and improve the atmosphere. If I take my own situation as an example, I sit just above the crossbar in the Leazes. Say they wanted to make that area a safe standing area*, I assume I’d have a decision to make about whether I wanted to stay there or move to a non-standing area elsewhere. If I did decide to move, I’d hope I’d get offered a similar type seat, rather than somewhere inferior. As otherwise you’ll end up with people opting to stay in safe standing areas who don’t really want to be there, but figure it’s better than the alternative. *don’t actually think it’s feasible to make my area safe standing as it would probably block the view of the folk at the front of the new Wings corporate area.

Of course, I’m not saying it’s THE reason that has a negative impact on atmosphere. It just doesn’t help. Sitting/standing there freezing whilst getting soaked, doesn’t lend itself to wanting to belt out Blaydon Races at the top of your lungs. Tbh, all of the points made by different folk on here contribute to it to some degree or another. Hopefully they all get raised at this Match Atmosphere workshop (appreciate they can’t do much about the weather like…). I think most people would agree that getting like-minded folk sat together is probably the biggest factor. So the club recognising that and starting to think about what they can do to facilitate it would be a good start.

I don’t sit near the corner, so I can’t comment on that specifically, but whenever I’ve heard that song sung elsewhere (mainly away), it’s always with the use of “c*nts” rather than “p*ffs”?

File this under ‘excuses 101’, but the it really doesn’t help when the weather is absolutely minging. Relented a bit in the second half, but the first half reminded me of the Dortmund game. You can say it shouldn’t make a difference, but it definitely does. Got horrendous the 15 mins before halftime. Not surprised loads pissed off to the concourse early.

It’s the worst away trip in the league IMO

I think we underestimate Boro’s dislike of us (mainly because we don’t really care about them). Alright, it’s hardly mackem-levels, but it would only take a few poor showings before their crowd turned on him.

Kinda sounds like a younger version of Dan Burn (and, no, I don’t really want to start a discussion on whether that’s good, bad or indifferent..)

Probably the best outcome we could of hoped for once it became apparent it would be the Saturday. 12:30’s are lifting (derby matches excepted) and 8pm’s just generally cause hassle travel-wise.
-
Or it’s related to the fact they’re generally fairly passive in the way they play? You certainly wouldn’t class them as a high energy, relentless, pressing team.

Don’t think Greater Manchester Police would fancy Man Utd playing Liverpool and Man City playing Newcastle all on the same day tbh
-
Yeah, fair assumption.

I know what you mean, but it’s easier said than done when you can’t get the ball off them. Looking at stats for their home games this season and no-one has managed more than 9 shots against them. That was Chelsea who conceded 31. Average is 5.

Liverpool play in the Europa on Thursday 14th so you’d assume their match with Man Utd will be Sunday 17th. Assuming they won’t have Man City and Man Utd at home on the same day, that would mean we’re very likely to be Sat 16th. Take your pick on the whatever random ko time it could be like.

Get Heron doing the pre-match team talk!
-
Hmmm, appreciate it’s a bit of a ‘would you rather lose your left or right leg’ thing question, but if I look at the team Liverpool are currently turning out, I reckon I’d rather have had them, given it’s only two weeks away.
-
I know it’s always the same with these ‘fantasy all time’ teams, but you can’t have Ferdinand and Cole playing as wide forwards ?

Huddersfield got an allocation of 6k there in the third round.

Is Rolando Aarons available?

It’s FA Cup semi final weekend…

Tbf, once the bus got out of the car park, which took a while, it was pretty straight forward as the police stopped traffic coming from other directions to let the coach convoy get away.
-
Aye, walked in the front door at 3:14am.

Hope he knows who to contact for tickets to the darts.

Just seen the goals from the Man City game ? Luton best hope nothing happens to their main keeper.
